Vehicle Detail
Well, time has come. Gotta do it. Life has changed my plans. I've loved owning it but I'm just not doing anything with it except driving it only part of the year and it sits the rest. 1989 Chevy Blazer K5 Silverado 203,0xx miles Detroit Diesel 6.2L diesel with a J code intake (power of a 350, way better gas mileage - no, this is not the older Oldsmobile 350 based diesel or even related to it) 700R4 auto transmission rebuilt about 20,000 miles ago and shifts great New HD radiator, hoses, and AC Delco thermostat NV241 transfer case (2:72:1 low range) 10 bolt 8.5" axles with 30 spline shafts, 3.73's and a Gov Lock in the rear 305/70R16 GT Radial MT's (33x12.5R16) on 16x8 aluminum Baja's with about 1000 miles on them (fit great, no lift, looks good, plenty of power, run down the road smooth and straight) Factory tow package (Class III hitch, brake controller, bigger rear brakes, HD radiator, oil and trans coolers, etc) Tinted slider topper windows Warn Premium manual hubs Factory power options - AC, cruise, tilt, PW, PL, etc. Factory dual exhaust modified with turbo mufflers (nice rumble but not obnoxious and doesn't sound like every other truck with a Flowmaster) Runs and drives great. Sounds cliche but I'd drive it across the country right now. Starts up every time. I bought it in Seattle in May 2009 and drove it back east. Since then I've put a bunch of work into it and fixed and improved things and wouldn't hesitate to drive it back out west or anywhere. Was my daily driver for a year and a half and then I decided to get a DD and restore/modify it. I never "mudded" it or rock crawled or anything like that. Bumped around my buddy's farm to the back 40 and that was it. You won't find mud caked up underneath in the corners. Life has taken me in another direction and I just don't have the time/money/energy/interest to finish it any more. My loss is your gain! Body is great. Paint is typical late 80's early 90's peeling crap but the body is ALL THERE. Even a $200 Rustoleum roller paint job and this thing would look awesome. Surface rust and that's it in only a few places. This is not some rusty old truck from the rust belt that someone hung new fenders on, riveted some sheet metal over the floor holes, and then gave a nice pretty paint job. ALL ORIGINAL! You can still see the chalk marks on the frame! Typical 20+ year old Blazer issues. Windows are slow, some leaks from the mains and oil pan, rattles like a diesel, and rides like an old leaf sprung truck but it's ALL THERE. You won't find one this nice in the rust belt or anywhere rust got these. Everything works too. Some stuff is temperamental or slow but everything works. Again, you can fire it up and drive it right now. I have videos available of it starting and running, the windows and locks working, etc. The windshield has a small crack on the driver's side that was professionally fixed. I've had it for over two years and it hasn't moved beyond the spot where they sealed it. One small crease on the rear of the front driver's side fender behind the tire on the lip. Someone must have banged it slightly on something. Didn't even warp the rest of the fender. Surface rust here and there, chips, scratches, crappy late 80's paint and clearcoat, etc. Again, it's all there. You won't have to spend thousands of dollars on thin, warped, sketchy Taiwanese made body panels or hunt down expensive GM originals and then spend lots of time welding them in or pay thousands to have them installed. This doesn't need any of that! I'm included a set of low mileage original leaf springs. Got them off of a cream puff "conversion van" '88 Suburban that was lifted by a friend. Same weight rating and configuration as the Blazer's springs. Was going to rebuild them, put poly bushings in the eyes, new Teflon pads, fresh graphite paint, maybe 1" ORD Zero Rate add a leaves on, then install them. Just never got around to it. Add ons, work, additional... -CUCV brush guard painted matte black. No, I will not sell it separately. -H7 bulbs in Eurolamps conversion housings along with LMC headlight wiring upgrade. FAR brighter than the stock sealed beams and power goes directly to the lights, not to the switch then to the lights. -J-code intake on the 6.2L. No restrictive EGR BS. -Dual brand CD player with HD radio, Ipod connectivity, USB, Aux input, remote and more, unknown dash speakers, and 6.5" speakers just behind the B-pillar (not going to be "bumpin'" but FAR better than the stock system) -Rhino Lined interior (real Rhino Lining, I have the recipt. Not some crappy Herculiner or $59.99 hardware store paint with grit in it stuff.) -New interior side panels made of Lauan plywood. Originals were destroyed so I made these, had them completely Rhino Lined with the rest of the interior, then mounted them with stainless steel machine screws in the original locations. -Beefed up the seat mounts with 3/16" plate welded on top. Seat mounts WILL NOT break. Rhino Lined over, Rust Bullet underneath. -Blue low mileage front seats out of a '90 K5. Guy took them out of a showtruck he built in 1991 or so and they sat in storage until I bought them in 2009. I have some camo seat covers on them since I had them and figured they'd keep the front seats nice. Rear is the original light blue bench but is in excellent condition. No rips, tears, wear, collapsing foam, etc. -Husky Liner vehicle specific fitted front floor mats. Raised edge so anything on your shoes/boots/feet/sandles/hoves/whatever stays in the floor mat and not all over the floor. -Has the rare dealer option rear wing that keeps the rear window clear and crap from collecting on the tailgate ledge. Wish my previous K5's had these. In a rain storm you can see the water being pushed down the window by the down draft. -Front end was rebuilt in late 2009. Balljoints, U-joints (Dana Spicer 5-760x's), bearings, races, drag link, etc etc etc. Everything from the knuckles out. -ORD steering box brace and XJ steering shaft (I kept the plastic in it so it does not do the CLUNK-CLUNK that some have complained about). Frame was never cracked, I just wanted the insurance. Steering is awesome for one of these. -ACDelco Premium nitrogen charged monotube shocks installed summer 2009. -Documentation for everything I've done to it. I even have the Washington plates! Spent it's entire life up until May 2009 in the Seattle, Washington area. I bought it when I lived in Michigan but moved south in October 2009 so no horrible Michigan salty winter! Sits in my garage during the winters here. You could easily spend $6000 having a body shop weld in body parts on an old local junker and never get it as straight as this thing is. Truck is in Lexington, KY. Shipping is buyer's responsibility. I'll help coordinate pickup and loading. I'll even pick you up at the airport if you want to get a cross country road trip in like I did when I got it. Buyers with no or little feedback, new ebayer's, and others please contact me so I know you're not a bot. Everyone feel free to ask questions. I'll answer them all! I'm not hiding anything or ashamed of my work. I've put a lot of love and work into this truck but just am not doing it any justice any more. It needs a new home with someone who will use and treat it the way it deserves. I've loved having it but I'm just not using it and my life is going in another direction now.
