My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. I buy traded vehicles in volume and resell them wholesale directly to the public through eBay. We road test each vehicle before listing it on eBay so we can tell you first hand how this vehicle performs in the real world. I am a wholesaler, not a mechanic. Each vehicle is accurately represented to the best of my ability. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Please take the time to read this entire description carefully and review each of the photos closely before bidding or asking questions. For your consideration today is a very desirable version of one of my favorite cars of all time. The E38 BMW seven series is one of the most capable cars produced...period. I have personally owned several and sold more than I can count. It offers the most perfect blend of size, features and performance available in an affordable used car, bar none. The seven series did not have too many variants here in the USA. It came in V8 (short and long wheelbase) and V12 (long wheelbase only). Towards the end of the E38 chassis run, they introduced the Sport package which was brilliant. Seeing how rare the later V12 models were to find (less than 1,500 V12's sold stateside from 98-01) the 740i Sport was about as highly optioned as one could reasonably get one. Buyers interested in purchasing a 740i Sport should be aware that there are quite a few fakes out there. The 740i Sport is much more than a pair of 18" Motorsport wheels on a standard seven series. Also unique to the factory Sport models is black shadowline exterior trim, sport seats (the knee bolster is easy to spot) and a Motorsport three spoke wheel. The steering wheel is the easiest way to spot a true Sport. Most people buy the Motorsport rims and that's it. Look for the Motorsport steering wheel. Aside from cosmetic enhancements, the Sport models do have some performance enhancements. The suspension is all Motorsport tuned for more agressive cornering and braking. While the Sport has the same 282hp 4.4L V8 as the regular 740's...real Sport models have a higher 3500 rpm stall converter and a shorter 3.15:1 rear axle ratio. The performance difference is quite noticable. Another little known fact...while BMW did make a few 740iL Sports, but they carry only the cosmetic enhancements. Only the short wheelbase Sports have the performance stall converter, rear gears, ect... I would rate the exterior condition of this 2001 BMW 740i to be in ABOVE AVERAGE condition. Honestly, it's really hard to make a seven series look bad unless you get a beige one, lol. This color combination happens to be one of my favorites. Finished in navy blue over tan, this 740i is absolutely stunning to look at. The paint has a mile deep shine and looks great from any angle. There are no major cosmetic flaws that I could see. There is very minor damage to the left front corner/parking sensor which happened in my parking lot. Some of the window moldings are cracking from age which is completely normal for BMW vehicles. The 18" Motorsport split five alloy wheels are in good condition and are wrapped in matching Continental SportContact tires with excellent tread all around. All of the glass and lenses appear to be intact. Again, this is an absolutely gorgeous BMW that really turns heads. I would rate the interior of this BMW to be in AVERAGE condition for the age and miles of the vehicle. The door panels are clean and intact. The carpets are clean and show well. The tan leather Sport interior is also clean and shows very well. The headliner is clean and tight. The Vavona Redwood interior trim is in good condition and is specific to the Sport Package. The factory security system is working properly and includes one key/remote. The advanced security system allows you to arm the system with the windows down or sunroof open and the system's motion sensor will detect if anthing passes through any of the open windows. The power windows, locks mirrors and sunroof all work properly. Both front seats are power operated (the buttons on the drivers seat stick). All four seats are heated. The sound system is factory and includes radio with cassette up front and a CD changer in the trunk. Navigation is standard. There are a few lines through the multi-function screen but everything is working properly. This 740i is equipped with HomeLink integrated garage door openers. The climate control system is fully automatic and appears to be working properly. There are independent controls for the driver and passenger as well as rear vents for back seat passengers. The trunk is spacious and clean. Mechanically, this 740i appears to be in good running condition. The 282hp 4.4L V8 starts easily and runs smoothly. The engine does not smoke and I didn't see any leaks. During my time driving this vehicle, the engine held proper temperature. Her road manners are okay. The front suspension bushing feel like they are starting to thin, which is very common. You probably have another year before they need attention. There is actually a place here on eBay who sells a 13 piece complete lower front rebuild kit for $300 and it takes about 6 hours to install plus an alignment...I've done this kit more than once and have recommended it to several customers as well as used it on most of my personal BMW's. I would be happy to supply the companies name to the winning bidder. Anyway, the steering is tight and responsive as it should be. The brakes stop this car very well. The five speed adaptive drive automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly. Accelleration is very impressive. The upgraded stall converter and more aggressive rear axle ratio really wake this car up compared to a standard 740i. Cruising is easy and comfortable. I've had this one through the shop and replaced the MAF sensor and already took care of the little vacuum leaks at the lower intake that this engine is known for. I am passionate about certain cars...this is one of them. I use one of the best independent BMW shops in my county. I would be happy to refer a local buyer to them if you don't have an honest tech who really, really knows BMW's. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. I buy traded vehicles in volume and resell them wholesale directly to the public through eBay. Buying your next vehicle through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of buying a car. We road test each vehicle before listing it on eBay so we can tell you first hand how this vehicle performs in the real world. I am a wholesaler, not a mechanic. Each vehicle is accurately represented to the best of my ability. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. For your consideration today is a very desirable version of one of my favorite cars of all time. The E38 BMW seven series is one of the most capable cars produced...period. I have personally owned several and sold more than I can count. It offers the most perfect blend of size, features and performance available in an affordable used car, bar none. The seven series did not have too many variants here in the USA. It came in V8 (short and long wheelbase) and V12 (long wheelbase only). Towards the end of the E38 chassis run, they introduced the Sport package which was brilliant. Seeing how rare the later V12 models were to find (less than 1,500 V12's sold stateside from 98-01) the 740i Sport was about as highly optioned as one could reasonably get one. Buyers interested in purchasing a 740i Sport should be aware that there are quite a few fakes out there. The 740i Sport is much more than a pair of 18" Motorsport wheels on a standard seven series. Also unique to the factory Sport models is black shadowline exterior trim, sport seats (the knee bolster is easy to spot) and a Motorsport three spoke wheel. The steering wheel is the easiest way to spot a true Sport. Most people buy the Motorsport rims and that's it. Look for the Motorsport steering wheel. Aside from cosmetic enhancements, the Sport models do have some performance enhancements. The suspension is all Motorsport tuned for more agressive cornering and braking. While the Sport has the same 282hp 4.4L V8 as the regular 740's...real Sport models have a higher 3500 rpm stall converter and a shorter 3.15:1 rear axle ratio. The performance difference is quite noticable. Another little known fact...while BMW did make a few 740iL Sports, but they carry only the cosmetic enhancements. Only the short wheelbase Sports have the performance stall converter, rear gears, ect...
I would rate the exterior condition of this 2001 BMW 740i to be in ABOVE AVERAGE condition. Honestly, it's really hard to make a seven series look bad unless you get a beige one, lol. This color combination happens to be one of my favorites. Finished in navy blue over tan, this 740i is absolutely stunning to look at. The paint has a mile deep shine and looks great from any angle. There are no major cosmetic flaws that I could see. There is very minor damage to the left front corner/parking sensor which happened in my parking lot. Some of the window moldings are cracking from age which is completely normal for BMW vehicles. The 18" Motorsport split five alloy wheels are in good condition and are wrapped in matching Continental SportContact tires with excellent tread all around. All of the glass and lenses appear to be intact. Again, this is an absolutely gorgeous BMW that really turns heads.
I would rate the interior of this BMW to be in AVERAGE condition for the age and miles of the vehicle. The door panels are clean and intact. The carpets are clean and show well. The tan leather Sport interior is also clean and shows very well. The headliner is clean and tight. The Vavona Redwood interior trim is in good condition and is specific to the Sport Package. The factory security system is working properly and includes one key/remote. The advanced security system allows you to arm the system with the windows down or sunroof open and the system's motion sensor will detect if anthing passes through any of the open windows. The power windows, locks mirrors and sunroof all work properly. Both front seats are power operated (the buttons on the drivers seat stick). All four seats are heated. The sound system is factory and includes radio with cassette up front and a CD changer in the trunk. Navigation is standard. There are a few lines through the multi-function screen but everything is working properly. This 740i is equipped with HomeLink integrated garage door openers. The climate control system is fully automatic and appears to be working properly. There are independent controls for the driver and passenger as well as rear vents for back seat passengers. The trunk is spacious and clean.
Mechanically, this 740i appears to be in good running condition. The 282hp 4.4L V8 starts easily and runs smoothly. The engine does not smoke and I didn't see any leaks. During my time driving this vehicle, the engine held proper temperature. Her road manners are okay. The front suspension bushing feel like they are starting to thin, which is very common. You probably have another year before they need attention. There is actually a place here on eBay who sells a 13 piece complete lower front rebuild kit for $300 and it takes about 6 hours to install plus an alignment...I've done this kit more than once and have recommended it to several customers as well as used it on most of my personal BMW's. I would be happy to supply the companies name to the winning bidder. Anyway, the steering is tight and responsive as it should be. The brakes stop this car very well. The five speed adaptive drive automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly. Accelleration is very impressive. The upgraded stall converter and more aggressive rear axle ratio really wake this car up compared to a standard 740i. Cruising is easy and comfortable. I've had this one through the shop and replaced the MAF sensor and already took care of the little vacuum leaks at the lower intake that this engine is known for. I am passionate about certain cars...this is one of them. I use one of the best independent BMW shops in my county. I would be happy to refer a local buyer to them if you don't have an honest tech who really, really knows BMW's. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
