This full size luxury sedan is powered by the 4.9L L28 V8. This car does NOT have the problematic optional early Northstar engine. The L28 is a robust, powerful engine. It fires right up and has plenty of smooth power on the highway. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and without hesitation. There is a check engine light for the "Hall Effect Sensor" or cam positioning sensor. The only effect is an occasional bit of stutter when pulling off from a complete stop. This car could benefit from an alignment. It does not pull hard to the side, but the steering wheel is slightly off center. The electronically controlled suspension has be removed and retrofitted with a conventional strut set-up. It still has that soft, comfortable Cadillac ride, but it not longer has the potential for a very expensive suspension repair. It rides very nicely on the highway. The ABS brakes are strong. The light tan paint is in above average condition for the age and mileage. The only notable spot of damage is just below the fuel door (see pics). The lights and glass are all in good condition. The 17 inch 5-spoke alloy wheels are wrapped in Falken all season radials with good tread. The tan leather interior is in average condition. The power leather seats have wear, but do not have any tears or split seams. The carpets and headliner are in very good condition. Cadillac puts all the luxuries in their cars, and this Deville is no exception. The driver and passenger seats are power adjustable in a dozen different directions and work flawlessly. The power windows all go up and down quickly and smoothly. The power mirrors work as they should. The power locks with keyless entry work. The remote needs a new battery. The audio is provided by a Pioneer aftermarket CD player and provides good sound quality. The sound system needs a subwoofer to be complete. The previous owner kept the subwoofer and amplifier. This is a very nice Caddy, well kept by its previous owner. I took it in as a trade-in on an Audi A6. The gentleman that traded it in to me said that he was the second owner, and the original owner was his retired grandfather. This Sedan Deville has a current PA safety and emissions inspection good through the end of November 2012.
