Up for auction is my 1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL. I am the second owner of this beauty and now must sell it. It only has 13,498 miles. You read that right, only 13,498 miles. The original owner passed away many years ago and his wife just kept it in storage until I bought it from her. The color is Sunbeam Silver with red leather interior. It has many extras, including the RX-7 reflector on the back, the louvers, and the side skirts. Also included is some of the original paperwork, including the manual, quick maintanence guide, warranty information, and the original receipt showing that the original owner paid $16,093.48 for this car in November 1984. Interior Let me start off by saying that the original steering wheel is included and is in great shape. I just can't drive the car with it installed (I am 6' 7" tall and I couldn't shift with the old steering wheel in). The red leather interior is in very good shape, especially considering the age. The seats are almost like new, and not worn down. The driver seat does have a small area of discoloration on the back right. The carpet is in great shape, where it is plush it is still very nice and plush. The original RX-7 floormats are in good shape, the driver side could use a cleaning. All the interior lights work, including the rear light and even the light on the ignition so you can see your key at night. The plastic is also in good shape, with just a few small worn areas. Sadly the radio does not work. The clock still works, and so do the electric windows and mirrors. The switches for the gas fill door and back window work. Also the back window pistons don't keep the window up when it is opened. The original carrier for the moon roof is also included. Exterior There is virtually no rust to this car at all. It was kept inside until I got it last May, and has only been outside the past four months. The paint is in overall good shape. For being 27 years old, it's in great shape. There are a few small chips to the paint on the front bumper and hood, most likely due to rocks being kicked up onto it. Also on the side skirts some of the paint has started to come off, specifically on the passenger side there is a scrape that is .25" wide and about 3" long. The roof has a few issues. A piece of wood fell on the car, and caused a dent, hopefully you can see it in the photo. It created a small crease in the roof and also the side moulding. The paint chipped along the edge. Also the rear louvers in a wind storm once came loose and hit the top of the car. It didn't create any dents, but did cause some paint loss. If the roof were repainted this car would look great. There is a tiny piece of the pinstriping missing on the hood. The side louvers are in really good shape. The back louvers have one area of paint loss on them. All the glass in in great shape, no cracks or chips. The tires I believe are the original tires, so they have 13,498 miles on them. The rims are in good shape and are still nice and bright. The headlights also raise and lower without any problems. The front windshield wipers work, but the back one doesn't. Also the antenna doesn't raise. My guess is that the radio, antenna, and rear windshield wiper may all be related, and there might be a short somewhere. Motor I replaced most of the fluids when I bought this, including the transmission fluid, power steering, coolant, brake fluid, and oil. The engine itself is in great shape. It will run for hours without any problems. Though the car won't drive very far currently. It will eventually lose all of its power and stall. I drove this for a couple hundred miles before this happened. It would start to "buck" when it was put under a lot of strain, i.e. when going up a large hill. I took this to a local mechanic and he thought that it could be the altitude compensator valve. I then did a little research and think it could also possibly be the throttle position sensor. The rubber hoses aren't dried out, and instead are very flexible. The clutch feels nice and strong along with the transmission. Things that need work This is more of a reminder of what I have already said. There is the dent in the roof, along with the paint damage caused by the louvers. Also there is something wrong with the motor, I believe it is either the throttle position sensor or the high altitude compensator. The radio also doesn't work, along with the antenna, and the rear windshield wiper. The rear window pistons don't hold the window up. This is truly an amazing car in amazing shape and if I could fix this up myself then I wouldn't be selling it.
