Vehicle Detail

My husband and I have decided to sell our well-loved Chevy. She runs just great. We drove her quite a bit over the years (maybe 2-3000) miles. She has the "economiser rear end," so she is very tall geared and will cruise nicely at sixty mph on the freeway. The only rust on her is on the running boards and just a little on the hood. (See photos.) This car is an amazing time capsule. We got it here in New Mexico 7 years ago. At that time, she had been sitting under a car cover since about1960. The former owner had bought her back in the fifties and done some restoration on her--like the upholstery, which is a real Juarez job from back in the day. There is some body filler on it, but we didn't put it there. We brought her home, redid the brakes, and put some new electrical wires on her. All the old wires were completely bare, and my husband did it wire by wire, though he wished he had bought a kit (and says you'll probably want to rewire her). We have all the parts that came with her, and although we converted her to 12 volt, all the gauges, etc. are stock. Oh, and we put new whitewall Coker radials on her a few years ago. The motor is an original 216. My husband cleaned out the gas tank, put a filter inline and rebuilt the carb. He installed an electric fuel pump and bypassed the original fuel lines. They are still there, along with the stock parts. We also did a bunch of front end work, so the steering is nice and tight. The discolored patches in the photos are mostly worn down to the primer. She is no rat rod or rust bucket. We replaced the broken windows--all except one cracked one and one heavily bubbled one because they went so well with the car. We recently bought another cool car and find ourselves not paying the attention to this beauty she deserves. So rather than putting her under the cover for another 40 years, we decided to sell her. Please send us your questions, and my husband will be happy to answer.
