Vin # LP23D8E142705 L = DartP = Premium 2 = 2 Door 3 = Hardtop D = 273 V8 8 = Last digit of year E = Manufactured in Los Angeles 142705 = Serial Number A MOPAR classic, the Dart GT V8 is one of the rarer muscle cars from the golden era of Detroit. I hate to part with it, but I am relocating and it cannot come along. Check out the pictures carefully, this car has not been repainted or re-chromed so it has wear and tear from 44 years on the road. It has never left me stranded and here are some details of interest . . . It left the assembly line in Los Angeles with a 273 which was replaced with a mid eighties 318. Original paint with only a minor rust through on the passenger side rear panel behind the rear wheel. The hood mount on the driver side is loose, but other than that the body is in good condition. Missing chrome trim on passenger side rear window, all other trim pieces and emblems are intact and in good condition. All lights and electrical work perfectly, including the heater, defrost and instrument cluster. The interior is fitted with two replacement Corbeau bucket seats, the rear bench is original. The car has been stripped to the metal on the interior and truck and treated with marine rust inhibitor and two minor rust throughs have been repaired with new carpet installed. Minor cracks in top part of dash, otherwise all interior trim and emblems are in good condition and intact. Trunk has a hydraulic lift replacing the factory spring loaded assembly and a replacement mat installed. Original jack assembly, a spare tire and set of snow tires included. This car has been my daily driver for over eight years and I take my baby girl in it everywhere I go. With minor work on the interior and a paint job this care can be ready for shows as a “factory/stock” restoration. Also prime for a hotrod project. The GT V8 was the early ’68 attempt to get a street legal muscle car into the showrooms as Dodge worked on getting the Challenger and Charger into mass production. They threw huge motors into the light Darts and it was the only time that the Dart was beefed up to compete with Mustangs and the rest of the muscle car pack. The GTS was the race track version and had a fiber glass hood and front fenders and even bigger motors. It was not a street legal car. Mine is tuned for gas efficiency and has a two barrel carburetor tuned lean. I get roughly 17 mpg in the city and almost 20 on the open road. I hate to part with it, but here in Oregon it is perfect because it almost never snows. I am moving to Colorado and need a less powerful front wheel or all wheel drive vehicle. I have an extra set of hubcaps for it and a parts bin with goodies that may come in handy as you finish the restoration.Check out the pics and send me any questions you might have.
