Vehicle Detail
VOLVO ENTHUSIASTS! WHAT A FIND! LOTS OF EXTRAS! READ ON! Up for bid is one lovingly maintained Volvo 740 Turbo, with the rare 5 speed transmission, with many extras! I bought this car as the 2nd owner, with 68,000 on it. Car has 303,135 miles, and is in great shape considering. Photos have not been retouched, and car is as it appears in the photos. If you need to see something else, just ask! Items to note: Never crashed, but was grazed when parallel parked. Driver fender was wrinkled and this touched and bent the corner of the hood. This shoved the front sub assy's sideways too (headlight frames, radiator mounts), so all of it was replaced. NO STRUCTURAL DAMAGE! All were replaced with original Volvo parts from a recycler, except radiator, and entire car repainted. THis is a heavy car, made of STEEL. Bumpers are huge aluminum channels, covered by black rubber that stick out past the body work. M46 Manual transmission has been replaced with the Volvo Updated version. Early models failed, as did mine. It is a 4 spd with Electronic Overdrive. Current unit is fine. Rear Axle assy: I replaced the original 3.54 ratio with a 3.31 after 297,000 had the original one singing. Mileage on this one is 125,000. Could not locate another 3.54. Turbo Charger: I have the TD05 Mitsubishi. While this isn't as "hot" as the Garrett unit sometimes found, longevity is better. It was rebuilt at 230,000 and has been fine ever since. It does not consume oil. New Alternator. Original Bosch unit just failed a month ago. Air Conditioning: Whole system, and I do mean whole system, is new plus 5 years. Car is now R22. It works just fine, but I didn't reinstall a belt when the alternator was replaced. This car still used multiple belts. Engine: Good solid "K" motor. Seals replaced, Harmonic crank balancer replaced, Thermostat housing and stat replaced (temp lowered) Exhaust: Original Resonator and Muffler finally had to be replaced. I am only running a muffler, not a resonator. Sounds fine, less back pressure, better mileage. Body: Car was recently repainted original color, and looks great. NO RUST (This car, incredibly, has a galvanized body: check it out for yourself!) Wheels/Tires: Tires are 2 years old with 90% tread. Wheels are Volvo originals by Draco, are alloy, and in excellent condition. 5 wheel full size spare in trunk. Interior: Shots of seat and driver door are typical of car interior, which is very well kept/clean for its age. Seats were always covered. I have winter and summer car seat covers for the front seat. Carpet is in good shape. Headliner was replaced. One small cut on passenger seatback about 1 inch. Manuals: All original manuals/literature are in good shape and included. KNOWN ISSUES: Car leaks a bit of oil from lower engine. Turbo is fine. I have always run 20W50 in the hot summers, and 15W40 the rest of the year, per the manual. Small power steering leak from a hose. Interior overhead light. It works, but is dismounted. One tab need to be repaired (glued) so it doesn't fall down anymore. Shifter: Works fine, but I removed the gate-lock between first and reverse. The volvo shifter uses a lock ring that the driver pulls up just below the shift knob to get over the gate lock and into reverse, which is in an exaggerated first gear position, similar to VW manuals. Because the internal shaft link broke, it was easier to remove the lock (two screws, and I still have it) than remove the tranny to do the repair. EXTRAS INCLUDED: Being that I had this car forever, I starting getting more stuff. All the below is included in this sale! M47 transmission. I bought this, along with the cross member and driveshaft (different length) This is the traditional 5 speed (not 4spd w.OD) that was used in later years. 5 original MANN oil filters with check valve Bosch original computer (as a backup) Bosch original Primary Injection computer (as a backup) Bosch original Mass Air Flow Sensor ($$$$) Full complete set of all relays (some of these new cost over $100 each) Exterior upper and lower windshield trim, new in package Full size Volvo Alloy wheel for spare with new tire 2nd Volvo original jack
