For sale by owner - 1999 BMW 323i Sedan (E46 body style). Rare "Meergrun" Sea Green metallic color. Currently has about 123,500 miles, but it is being driven daily so actual mileage will change. Maintained by Erhard BMW in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and Birmingham Imports in Royal Oak. I would be happy to put any prospective buyer in touch with Birmingham Imports for questions about this car. The good: I am the third owner of this car, the second being my mother-in-law. She purchased it from a local BMW dealership with approximately 50,000 miles. We have fairly complete documentation and records on maintenance and repairs. The car has had all required services performed, and normal wear items were repaired. It has been very reliable in daily use for several years. We were told that the sea green paint was a special-order European color, and I have only seen it on one other car. It is a nice change from the usual silver and black BMW. It is absolutely beautiful, and pictures don't really do it justice. Non-smoker owned. Car is paid for and title is in hand. Windows, lights, moonroof, seat heaters, A/C and electrical features work. Both front window regulators (a known fail point on these cars) were replaced within the last two years. The OK: Exterior paint and interior are in normal used shape, with scratches and wear from 120,000+ miles. Wheels are 17" aftermarket units purchased in 2011. Tires are 1 year old. The bad: Exterior rust is present in a few areas. The greatest concern is that there are rust bubbles on both A-pillars next to the windshield. It is very important that any buyer of this car understand that repairs may need to be made immediately or in the future to ensure the safety of the vehicle. A high-quality body shop (Autometric in Royal Oak) quoted me a price of two thousand dollars just to remove the windshield and attempt to fix it, and I do not want to put that much money into the car at this point. The final price could be higher if the damage is more extensive. I am not interested in putting that money into an older vehicle, and so the price of the car reflects the need for this repair. I want to be very clear that bidding on this car confirms that you understand this disclosure and that this car is being sold completely, 100% "as-is" with no warranty of any kind. Other known issues: There are rust bubbles on both rear fender panels near where they meet the bumper. The moonroof cover is a little sticky when closed (guides were replaced once by Birmingham Imports). There is a small stone chip in the windshield that has been there for several months. It may be repairable, but I will leave that decision to the next owner. The front bumper was involved in a "fender-bender" accident last year that did not result in obvious exterior damage to the vehicle except for the movement of the bumper and headlight surround, and no repairs were undertaken (see the "Autocheck" report). I can't warrant that nothing else was damaged in that accident, but there does not appear to be any. I would encourage anyone interested in the car to inspect it or have it inspect it prior to purchase so there are no surprises. The car has a small dent in the left front fender, the power lock switch in the dash is functional, but has come loose from its mounting, and the plastic trim piece at the base of the windshield is cracking and needs replacement. The cigarette lighter does not work, and I believe it needs a new fuse. Please see the pictures and ask me if you have questions about anything you are wondering about. I have tried to be very specific about the condition of car and disclose all of the issues that I am aware of so buyers can make an informed decision. It is far from perfect, but it is a beautiful car, and we have really loved driving it. I hope that someone will take the time to restore it to its original condition. It is reliable right now, but of course I cannot guarantee that a car with 125,000 miles will not have future problems.
