Vehicle Detail

Up for auction, is my 1976 Ford Bronco, the Bicentennial year.  It was purchased new in February of 1976 by Mr. and Mrs. Brooks  at Capital City Ford in Jefferson City, Missouri.  They were the proud owners until April of 1996, when they sold it to Mr. S of St. Louis, Missouri.  That's where the work and real story begins.  From April of 1996 through Sept. of 2009, Mr. S invested over $22,000 in this Bronco (not including his original purchase price from the Brook's).  I have a notebook full of receipts as proof of every dime he spent.  Everything is accounted for.  Pretty well everything power train wise was replaced new or rebuild during this time period.  I can't list them all, but I'll hit the highlights: new gas tank & all lines, transfer case reseal, slip differential,  complete drive shaft, everything to do with the brakes, axle bearings, complete exhaust, James Duff Ultimate Suspension Kit, power steering pump, rebuilt carb, etc., etc.  But it doesn't stop there.  Mr. S installed a remanufactured Jasper 302 engine at a cost of over $2,400 with only around 12,000 miles put on it since the install.  He also installed a new, rebuilt C-4 transmission with only around 11,000 miles put on it since install.  Now to the body.  Mr. S spent over $7,800 on replacement door hinges, body metal, floor pans, and welding labor, replacing 98% of the metal with new metal.  The only things not replaced were the hood and top.  He wanted no rust hole filled with bond-o.  I can tell you bond-o was used as a dent filler and to cover some of the rougher weld marks.  That brings me to tires.  Mr. S spent over $800 on this set of tires in 2009.  They have only had around 3,000 miles put on them since that time.  I do have EVERYTHING Mr. S did to this Bronco itemized out on paper by date, what he bought/did, who did the work, and cost.  If any serious buyer would like this info faxed to them, please email me your fax number.  I would be happy to provide this info.  The buyer will also get the folder full of receipts proving all this work, as well as the original owners manual, protect-o-plate, original window sticker, and original buyer invoice from Capital City Ford.  This leads up to my purchase.  I purchased this Bronco in January of 2010 (I am only the 3rd owner).  Although this mass amount of work was already done for me, I bought it in primer.  Mr. S never got to paint or interior.  Mechanically, I haven't had to do a thing.  It runs like a top.  No smoke, no motor noise, no fluid leaks of any kind.  Steering is tight and drives very well.  Always starts, no matter the temperature outside.  The 4X4 works as it should, plowing through even the deepest of snow.  The battery has never been dead or has it never had a flat tire.  Everything works with the electrical with the exception of the horn and radio.  All the gauges work, but the speedometer goes crazy at times.  Mechanically, I dare say, you can't find a better one!  I say you could drive this home, no matter where you call home (keep in mind it is 36 years old.  If you plan to drive it home, it's always good to have a back up plan.  Anything can happen out on the road with a vehicle of this age).  I had it painted with a green and white color scheme, to be different.  All the body work was done already.  There is some light bond-o pitting here and there, especially on the hood.  The hood was the one thing not replaced and probably should have been, but I like to leave some things original in all my projects.  A couple of the body lines are not perfect, but the frame is great.  The paint job does look good and shines very well, but if you are looking for something "show room new" or of "museum quality", you need to look else where, as this is not perfect and may not be the one for you.  The interior I redone in a custom style, going with a white/green plaid color scheme, there again, to be different.  For the most part, the white on the seats are original to the Bronco, so there are a few tiny cracks here and there in the vinyl.  Nothing major.  I did add the console, but am not bolting it down.  You can install an aftermarket stereo inside it and decided it would be easier for the new owner to do that if I left it unbolted.  There again, because I like somethings left original, I stuck with the original headliner board.  It has seen better days, but is there.  I have spent over $7,000 doing what I've done.              Now to the terms of the sale.  Please ask any and all questions (big or small) prior to placing a single bid.  Study the pictures closely and watch the video I posted several times.  I want no one "surprised" by anything.  Please read all questions/answers I post at the bottom of the listing.  Before bidding, think it over and discuss with who you must.  Remember, most banks won't loan on something of this age, so please have money secured before bidding.  Please remember it is 36 years old.  SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY!!!!!  I can't stress that point enough.  I don't have time to fool around with non-paying bidders.  I will expect whoever ends up the winner, to follow through with the transaction.  If you have LESS THAN 10 FEEDBACK, please contact me before bidding or you bid will be CANCELLED!!!  I've been burned too many times.  The clear MO title MUST be filled out with your info before release to you.  A deposit of $500 is due within 24 hours of auction end through PayPal.  The remainder is due within 7 days of auction end via cash or bank certified cashiers check (which must clear before release).  Please make sure you can meet these payment deadlines.  Once paid in full, I can store free of charge, for as long as you need until pick-up.  Come drive it home, or if you choose, I will work with the shipper of your choice.  Arrangement and payment for shipping are YOUR responsibility.  I am open to "in person" inspections of the vehicle.  There is NO RESERVE, so high bidder takes all.                As stated earlier, it is not perfect (although mechanically, it's pretty darn close).  If perfection is what you require, look else where.  But if something nice, that turns heads everywhere you go, and can be used as a daily driver or weekend cruiser is what you want, then this is Bronco is for you.  It's 4X4 for the winter and has the removable top for the summer.  It has no seasonal bounds.  Thanks for looking and happy bidding!!!!On Feb-19-12 at 18:10:08 PST, seller added the following information: Please remember you are bidding to buy.  You're not bidding for a chance to come look at, kick a tire or two, and then decide whether you're buying or not.  The winning bidder is the buyer.  Also, it is sold AS-IS, with no warranty expressed or implied.  Thanks again. On Feb-22-12 at 21:42:27 PST, seller added the following information: I am starting to get lots of questions about condition.  Please re-read my description because the condition is clearly stated in that.  Also, pay extra attention to the pictures and video posted.  I tried to capture all the positives and also the flaws.  If you still have questions about condition after all this, then by all means, please ask.  Thanks again.
