Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1998 Ginster (Yellow) 5 Speed Manual GTI VR6 this was a one owner car for 13 years. I can honestly say that this is probably one of the cleanest, well kept MKIII GTIs anywhere. This is the last year of this model run, and it’s the best year to get, as all the kinks from the 95-97 models were worked out, and you get the 1997 Drivers edition steering wheel with red stitching, 7 spoke wheels etc. The color it self is very rare and hard to find. I have been a fan of the MKIII ever since that shape came out, and have been looking for clean one for a long time before I found this one. Unlike many MKIII GTIs this one is NOT rotted out, or beat on. It was garage kept of most of it’s life and it shows. It only has a hand full of tasteful modifications, listed below that adds to the driving experience. The car runs and drives great; I use it as my daily driver 25 mile commute without any issues. I’m only selling due to fact it’s getting hard to get the baby car seat in and out of the back with only 2 doors, a sedan would make life a lot easier. To quote the 1st owner who I got the car from “I have taken pride in maintaining and detailing the car and it has a unique history. While living in Munich, Germany I drove this car on the Autobahn and throughout Europe. (This is a U.S. spec car.) The European Rear Fog Light and Front Parking Lamps were installed in Germany.” I have the maintenance records and I am including additional equipment I purchased over the years. It is really a fun, great handling quick car. Engine: runs great with no leaks, smoke or noises Transmission: Shifts fine in all gears including reverse Clutch: grabs fine and does not slip at all Brakes: Brembo rotors with Hawk HPS brake pads, good life left on pads and rotors Tires: Bridgestone Potenza G009 Tires with even Wear and Plenty of Tread Depth Suspension: H&R Touring Cup Kit Suspension Installed 04/06/2006 http://www.hrsprings.com/products/cup-kits/ Exterior: Very clean, polished and waxed with buffer 2x a year, few nicks, scratches, small rust spot on roofInterior: Very clean, no rips or tears. All electronics work windows, sunroof, heat, ac, wipers, signals etc.. Current Condition – Pros: • Mileage in Service Date 04/04/1998 – 17 Miles on Odometer • Current Mileage 140,XXX (Used as my daily driver.) The motor is bulletproof I had a friend who had 250k when he sold his. Mileage might go up as the car is still being used. • VIN 3VWHD81H3WM194908 • Second Owner Non-Smoker Automobile, both Adult owners • Black Leather Interior in Excellent Condition • Maintenance Records and Log Available • Mobile 1 Synthetic Oil Used for Life of Automobile • Premium Name Brand Gasoline Used for Life of Automobile i.e. Mobil, BP, Shell • Garaged Majority Life of Automobile • New Coil Pack Installed 07/16/2010- expensive and common issue • New Secondary Air Pump and Check Valve Installed 07/16/2010 Front wheel bearing replaced • New voltage regulator installed • K&N Air Filter • Zymöl Car Care Products used • Averaging 27.3 miles per gallon (MPG log available) since 02/2011 • Vehicle Emissions Compliance Test Passed 05/2010 • Never in an Accident • OEM Parts Used for Maintenance Current Condition – Cons: • ABS Light On- due to module that needs to be repaired common issue with ABS equipped cars. This can be rebuilt for about $80 • Check Engine Light On- Due to secondary air pump insufficient flow. Most likely a cracked vacuum hose or solenoid $30 fix. The pump itself is fine, so it’s either the solenoid or the hose, both are very cheap and easy to fix. Very common VW problem, even with the newer models. Additional Equipment: • Euro Rear Fog Light- (Had to have it installed while car was in Germany, It a law over there) • Euro Parking Lamps (Front) • Colgan Custom Sport Bra(Not installed, included in sale) • Alpine CD Head Unit (installed) • Original VW Cassette Radio (in box) • PIAA Intense White Headlight Bulbs (Installed) Note: The CARFAX/Autocheck Vehicle History Report reports an odometer issue. This is due to the three years the automobile was registered in Germany and then returned to the U.S. causing an abnormal length of time and or miles the car was registered with the DMV. The Mileage is correct! I have the shipping invoice to and from Germany the previous owner gave me. The title is clean and clear of any liens. I have 2 set of keys and I key fob for remote entry. Car is being sold as-is! no warranty expressed, written or implied. I will ship the vehicle at buyer cost, you have to arrange and schedule all shipping tasks. $200 due at end of auction via bank transfer/wire, check, cash. Final payment due 5 days from auction end date not responsible for any errors/omissions in ad. Honest seller looking for honest buyer. Email me for any questions via Ebay link. I have the car listed in different local sources, I have the right to end the auction at any time! Happy bidding and good luck! On Feb-18-12 at 00:55:39 PST, seller added the following information:Here is a link to the Oil change and Maintenance log. As you can see the car has a outstanding service history. An oil analysis was done at Blackstone Labs years ago and everything came back better than average. They recommended 10k Oil change intervals with Mobile 1 synthetics, given the state of the oil sample. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AoD2tozQ__2CdFNCdDhfTTc3V0VtWmRRQjhLWmpxSkE#gid=0On Feb-23-12 at 10:35:17 PST, seller added the following information:I have been getting some questions about the GTI so I will address them so everyone can see it. 1. The hatch is not rusted out, it's in great shape 2. The hatch release from inside the car works 3. The timing chains are in good shape, they are not ratting or making any noise. 4. The car drives straight, no pulling to either side I have been asked how fast it is, and other specs. I will attach a couple links to a reviews by Motor trend magazine, and another source from back in 1995 when the GTI came out. The 98 has similar specs, only a few things were added in later models. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/112_9501_1995_volkswagen_gti_vr6/viewall.html http://www.pacificvolkswagen.com/NewCarTestDrive/review/1995/Volkswagen/GTI/VR6
