Please take the time to read this entire description carefully and review each of the photos closely before bidding or asking questions. I am not a mechanic. I take dozens of photos and include everything I can find out about each vehicle in my description. Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is a 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4x4. The eBay vin decoder says that this is a SSP (Police Pkg). The eBay vin decoder is not always right. I've done some research to try and confirm this but there isn't much information out there. From what I've read, most SSP Cherokee's have rubber floors and an extended idle switch. Some are reported to have a column shifter. Larger brakes, a trans cooler and heavy duty alternator are other features associated with a Police package Cherokee. From what I've read, many of these features were available a la cart. An SSP Cherokee could be ordered with or without any combination of these features. I couldn't find any vin specific indicators to know for absolute certainty. For example, a Crown Victoria will either have a "P71" or "P72" in the vin to inticate different levels of Police Interceptor trim. A "P71" Vic is a patrol car and a "P72" is usually an unmarked cruiser. In short, I don't know how to tell for absolute certainty whether or not this Cherokee is an SSP or a civilian model. I would rate the exterior condition of this Cherokee to be in BELOW AVERAGE condition for the age and miles of this vehicle. The hood has several deep scratches on it. Additionally, there is rust present on the rockers and door bottoms. Overall, it doesn't look horrible but it doesn't look good. All of the glass and lenses appear to be intact. The tires are oversized and look nearly new all around. I would rate the interior condition of this Cherokee to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for the age and miles. It's obvious that it would benefit from a good cleaning. I didn't see anything that wouldn't clean up. The seats are not worn or torn. The headliner is in decent shape and the door panels are good. The dash is not cracked and should clean up nicely, too. This is a fairly well optioned model. It has power windows, locks and mirrors...all working properly. The climate control system appears to be working properly. The stereo has been upgraded to a CD unit. Mechanically, this Jeep appears to be in good running condition. The 4.0L inline six starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't see any leaks and the engine does not smoke. The suspension feels pretty tight for the miles. The steering feels tight. The brakes stop this Jeep well. It drives strait down the road. The engine makes good power, too. The 4WD is tested and working. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly.
