I am not a mechanic. I include dozens of photos as well as all the information we can gather about each car prior to sale. Each vehicle is accurately represented to the best of my ability. Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is a 1992 Volvo 960 wagon. I buy every one of these wagons I can find (which isn't many). Early Volvo's are a completely different car than newer ones. I would rate the exterior condition of this Volvo 960 to be in ABOVE AVERAGE condition for its age and miles. The green finish isn't perfect but is in great shape for the age of the car. There are a few scratches here and there including a small dent on the one fender. There is no major damage and no rust that I could find. The tires are in good condition all around. All of the glass and lenses appear to be intact. I buy Volvo's on condition...which is why I bought this one. It's obvious that someone took great care of this car. I would rate the interior condition of this Volvo 960 to be in ABOVE AVERAGE condition for the age and miles of this vehicle. The carpets show some wear but don't look bad considering the miles. The seats show well as do the door panels. The headliner is pretty clean, too. The wood trim is in good condition also. This wagon is equipped with the optional 3rd row seat. The power drivers seat sticks on the one side and doesn't want to slide back. I'm 6'1" and it's a little tight for me to sit in the drivers seat. The drivers window gets a little wind noise and the sunroof will tilt but not slide. That's all the bad I can think of. Overall, not too bad for a quarter million miles. The automatic climate control appears to be working properly. The original stereo sounds great, too. The front seats are heated. The power windows, locks, mirrors and antenna all appear to still be working. The original owners books are included for the new owner. I've put well over 100 miles on this Volvo personally. Mechanically, this Volvo appears to be in good running condition. The Volvo inline six is legendary for its power and reliability. She starts easily and runs smoothly. I did not notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Driving this Volvo reminds me why I like Volvo's. Even with over a quarter million miles on the clock, it drives strait as an arrow. The suspension is nice and tight. The steering is neutral. The brakes do an excellent job at stopping this vehicle. The engine keeps a steady temperature and there are no warning lights on. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts normally. The biggest reason I purchased this Volvo was its service history. The original maintainence book is filled in all the way to 140k (which is as far as it goes). According to the factory service sticker on the engine, the timing belt was last done at 214k miles. It's safe to assume that this Volvo has been properly serviced all of its life which is so important.
