Vehicle Detail
1964 Pontiac Tempest Custom Sports Coupe - I am the second owner. I obtained the car from the original owner, my parents' elderly neighbor, in 1981. It has always been garage kept until late 2010 when I had to move it to my driveway. In photos include the original bill of sale/invoice. The car is in great condition, mostly original, with very low original mileage, 48,180 miles. The car is registered, inspected and insured and is driven occasionally. I will list the vehicle's options, condition and history below. I don't have the owner's manual but I do have the service manual. It's peppy for a six cylinder, fun to drive and looks great. Looks like a GTO. I hope the next owner will cherish and enjoy the car as I have, and Dave before me. Condition: Front driver's side seat has a split open seam along the piping at the left side of the bench. AM push button radio was working when I got the car but the dashboard speaker cone disintegrated. Needs a new speaker. Some rust around bottom of rear windshield below the chrome trim. Right side of front windshield has a small chip. Probably a good candidate for a resin type repair. It never bothered me and when it happened the technology wasn't around to repair it. Minor scratches and chips in exterior paint. Interior window guide weatherstripping (guides the glass)is brittle and broken in a few spots. Minor rust spots developing around emblem on trunk lid, drivers door, and a few random spots around car. These started after I had to leave the car outdoors. The optional driver's remote (mechanical remote via cables) side view mirror is loose and can't be adjusted (too much slack in the control cables). Dashboard is metal. Top of dash (shroud) has a few paint chips. Slight tear in rear headliner, about one inch long, caused by an umbrella tip. Car runs great. Had a major tune-up/service done in 2009 and it has never run better. Replaced water pump and battery in 2009. Repaired driver's side window regulator in 2009. Recovered rear windsheild deck with matching blue vinyl in 2010 by local auto upholstery shop (old one was faded and worn looking). Driver's seat wasn't torn then. Car was repainted by original owner, sometime in 1970's. Elderly owner didn't want wife to know he scraped the car in a shopping center parking lot so he had the car painted. She was trying to get him to give up driving because he had cataracts. He was in his mid 80's when I obtained the car and he told me the story. Rest in Peace Dave! Replaced starter, muffler and tailpipe in early 1980's. Replaced carpeting in mid 1980's. Features: Automatic Trans Pushbutton AM Radio Dual Speed Wipers Power Steering (no power brakes) Remote Control Mirror Back-up Lamp Rear Window Defogger Front Seat Belts 215 Straight Six Whitewall Tires Decor Group
