Vehicle Detail

I've been considering letting this one go, and with a free listing offer I figured why not take a shot and see if there's a following on these little cars! I haven't sen a Pacer come through eBay for months, and this one is an all-around good car- whether you want to jump in and use it as a daily driver as-is, considering it has 4 new tires with basically no mileage on them, had a recent tune-up planning to use as a cruise-while-refurbish project, as well as a new odd-sized battery. For options: it has power brakes and steering, A/C, and factory "Mag wheels" much like mopar full size rallys. You can say its a survivor to the extent that it has never been repainted, though for some reason the doors were swapped- still in original paint though- it will need to be painted due to that and a dent in the hood, door dent, and a very minor section of rust starting on the passenger qtr panel. i didn't put it on the lift - but i am pretty sure the undercarriage is completely solid- everything that can be seen while looking underneath is clean and rust free- frame rails, subframe area, floor pans, rear cargo floor, etc. The mileage is legitimate at 54,655, my friend originally purchased this with intent to restore, he did the tires/battery/repairs, but then found an absolutely mint [took an AACA junior award] 7,500 mile survivor 80 Pacer wagon, so this was off the to-do list... the title is a clear NJ title, currently on historic registration. The Interior is very, very nice! just take a look at the pics... those are original seats, carpet, headliner, dash, etc... the lack of wear on all soft appointments and pedals backs up the low mileage as well. the only interior flaw is the sun got to some of the white plastic panels, so they feel chalky, like along the rear cargo side panels. the carpet section is off the backrest of the rear seat, but it is there, in the pic, it can be glued back on. i also have the wood trim broders for the doors, and perhaps a few extras as well. the engine is a peppy-for-a-6 258? with a rebuilt carb and recent plugs. runs good, charging system is up to par, runs at proper temp, trans shifts just as it should- it has the AMC variant of the chrysler 904 trans... rear is tight, suspension is tight- stops good- can't emphasize enough that it is mechanically good- and you'll know if you're the new owner that it wasn't a sales pitch! Now the bad!!! but remember, you're looking at a 77 pacer- a 35 yr-old vehicle... its not going to be perfect! it has a dent in the hood, 2 small dents on the pass side qtr, dent in drivers' door, and a little rust on the passenger qtr. the missing trim is there for the fake wood inserts, and theres a bullseye with a stringer in the corner of the windshield. at the end of the day- its a Pacer wagon, where do you find one this good overall? Its safely stored in a tent right now- if you buy it, no rush to get it out, we just have to finish the business end in a timely fashion. i have a 9000sqft garage housing my private collection of classics... can lead to an idea why the thought of doing a 70's retro custom with this would be back-burnered! I'm adding in the following photos on 2/8/12 since i had a few questions already- these pics were taken today- so this is what you'll see when you own it- UNDERCARRIAGE AND FRAME are completely solid AND BETTER THAN I THOUGHT! i put it on the lift and took some detailed photos of what i am advised are problem areas on these cars- take note- it was not cleaned up or doctored- all there is to b seen is some surface rust at edges or seams, if you know what you're looking at and have owned a car over 10 yrs old, you'll understand the photos- if they look like a problem to you- this car isn't for you, you'll have to buy a 5yr-old or newer vehicle! THE ROCKERS, UNIBODY SUBFRAMES, FLOOR PANS, AND SUBFRAME ITSELF ARE ALL ABSOLUTELY FINE! LOOK AT THE PICS... NOTHING TO HIDE ON THIS ONE! it also has a roof rack- which is not rusted around the standoffs and does not leak into the car's headliner
