Vehicle Detail

I'm selling my 1956 2-door Bel Air sedan (post). It is a true Bel Air that runs and drives great and can be driven around to local shows while you continue to work on her. I have owned this car for five years and have enjoyed working on it and cruising around. I will be as honest as possible about the car as an amateur car hobbyist, and feel free to call and talk about it with me if you're serious - 214-699-9953. I certainly encourage you to come look at the car before bidding if you have concerns. I have a clean and clear TX title in MY name. With small children and a demanding job, time to enjoy and continue working on her is simply hard to come by. I do have it for sale locally as well and reserve the right to end the auction early. Engine/Trans It has a '72 Chevy 350 according to the numbers. I had a local DFW tri-five specialist do most of the work including: Rebuilt Holley 4bbl on an Edlebrock intake, with a new fuel pump, etc. She starts right up and runs great. Compression was tested, and every cylinder is right about 148 PSI, and it does not smoke (new valve seals and valve adjustment). I had a new full dual exhaust system made recently that gives her a nice low rumble for cruising. The transmission is a TH350, and outside of needing a kickdown cable and a better shifter with a lock-out runs and shifts great. The rear end is original and was just serviced. Brakes/Suspension The entire brake system was rebuilt/replaced - I mean the ENTIRE brake system including all lines, and an entirely new front disc brake conversion including master cylinder/booster/all lines/proportioning valve/etc.. New 2" drop spindles in front are CPP with late model camaro disks/calipers/lines. Rear drums have been completely replaced as well, and the car stops very well now. Parking brake works like a champ too. The car has an entirely new suspension as well. In addition to the CPP 2" drop spindles, it has new front springs and entirely new front end rebuild kit with all new bushings and tie rods/etc with a professional alignment - the wheel is dead center now. The car also has brand new rear 4-leaf springs and all new bushings in the back. It cruises down the road nice and tight now. Wheels are 16" aluminum with new BFG Traction TA tires and less than 200 miles on them. Body/Interior The car wears a 15' paint job that is showing it's age. It has a heavy red/silver fleck in the black that you can see in the pictures that screams old-school hot rod. People love it, and so do I, but it is definitely old school. The paint is on there quite thick, and 85% of it looks pretty good as you can see from the pictures. You can also see that the paint on the hood couldn't handle the flex and is coming off. I painted it black to prevent rust and just keep driving her old school. The buyer should understand that paint/body needs a full redo/restoration to really make her nice. The Bel Air stainless trim/molding is all there and in very good condition inside and out The doors shut nice and solid (unlike my hard top...) without any rot on the bottom of the doors etc. (can still see factory paint). The two-tone cloth and vinyl interior covers the original seats, and It's clean for a budget hot rod though tired on close inspection. The door panels are new black vinyl that I added. Headliner is tired and should be replaced, but the bows are up there... Project cars are very difficult to find with all of the Bel Air stainless and chrome in tact. All the glass is in great shape, and windows all work as they should. Frame/Floors The frame is an excellent one-piece "California" frame that is in great shape with no rust. There are a couple of patch panels welded onto the front floorboards, and they cut out the spare wheel well and welded in a cover plate and bumper lip sheet metal in the trunk. It is amateur work as the panels were cut and welded in, probably before you could get repop tri-five panels inexpensively. As is typical of tri-fives, some of the smaller floor braces (NOT the frame) have rust and should be replaced if you intend to do the paint/body. Have your body man check it out before you bid if you like. I would repair the floors correctly before stripping and painting her. Wiring should be redone - I haven't had any issues, but I keep it on a quick battery disconnect for safety. It's a cheap floor shifter without any lockout, so despite looking cool it could allow you to put the car in gear before starting or could bump out of gear while driving (neither of which I have done). I would put it on the list of things to replace for safety. I tried to take quality pictures and be as honest as possible. Thanks Kevin I expect cash in hand or a cashier check from your bank. I will confirm that it is legit before releasing the car to the new buyer and signing over the title. Forget the scams as I have bought and sold vehicles on Ebay over the years. I will work with the new owner on vehicle pickup or transport pickup times, but shipping/pick-up is at the buyer's expense. I'm about 35 minutes from DFW airport for reference. As is, there is no warranty expressed or implied. This is project vehicle that is 56 years old.
