Vehicle Detail
Car The car itself is really rusty. The only panel that might be usable is the right door. I do have a clear title for it. I bought this car just for the transmission and rearend to use on a 67 GT but I never got around to building it. It’s been sitting in a barn on my farm for about 20 years. I removed the door tag and the dash tag when I parked it since I had some trouble with another cars tags being stolen. I personally did remove them and I do have them in a folder with the title and the original owner’s manual. They do come with the car. The hood is kinked at the hinges, the rear deck lid is rusted through along the back edge. The floors, front and rear frame rails are rusted. The front fenders are both slightly wrecked on the front above the headlights and rusty at the bottoms nearest the doors. The entire dash has been removed including the wiring loom. The under hood loom is still there from the firewall plug on. The radiator and fan are gone. The windows look okay and are factory tinted. The front windows have come unglued but the regulators still work fine. The rear window is nice and the stainless trim is dentfree. The windshield is cracked. This car is a perfect parts car in need of a nice body. It also has power disc brakes and power steering. I think it had a console and tach but they are long gone. I’ve ordered a Marti report and will post it when I get it. The data tag info is as follows. 63D M 8DA 16U 46 E 5 which translates to a GT 2 door hardtop fastback, wimbleton white with red crinkle vinyl interior built July 16, 1968 with a 3.00 Locking rearend and a 4 speed manual transmission. VIN is 8A42S287XXX DriveLine This is a true “S” code 390 GT Torino. It has a complete big block four speed limited slip drive line intact. The engine block is an FE style but I’m pretty sure it is not original. The date code on the block just above the oil filter looks to begin with a ‘7’ which would make it a 67 casting. The block casting number is C6ME-A. The heads are C8AE-H with a date code of 8G3 on both. This date is only 3 weeks from the data plate build date. I’ve ordered a Marti report to see if it was built behind schedule which would make the heads more correct, they may be correct anyway, just close on the dates. It has the correct GT exhaust manifolds. The intake is not correct, it’s a 2 barrel. The engine was loose when I parked it but I never did try to get it running. I did pull the valve covers and it does show some minor sludge but everything looks good. The date codes on the valve covers even match. The transmission is an RUG-J2 which is correct for this car. It has a Hurst shifter but the mounting plate must be wrong because they’ve cut the floor hump to make it fit. Everything is there and it does shift through the gears but I do not know its actual condition. All the clutch mechanism is intact and works correctly when the pedal is pushed. Driveshaft is intact as well. The rearend tag is a 3L00 which is correct for this car, the door tag shows a code of ‘E’. I am more than willing to answer any question about the car. I can also assist in loading it, it does roll easy, the tires are what was on it when I bought it and do hold air. So NO, it is not froze up but you should assume it will need to be rebuilt. I also found just a few interior pieces, nothing much, kick panels and the sunvisors, a few other small red plastic pieces. They will go with the car.
