Vehicle Detail
1965 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible 4 speed numbers match 1 owner project car. Please read complete description! The console is missing and will not be included! The Good: A complete all numbers matching 442! Correct block, heads (VIN coded), intake, carb, M21 4speed(correct coded) and rear axle. I purchased fom the original owner and it still has the original paint and interior so its a "honest" car. Basically a solid car other than what is mentioned below and a great color combo. The front seats are very intact but will need recovered, rear seat is very good as well as the door panels, dash area and dash minus small cracks. Top assembly very good. It has been inside or covered most of its life but has been exposed to salt and weather up until 1998 when it was taken off the road. It was special ordered with no power options and was drag raced in Kansas City through the 1960's. I purchased the car as you see and parts have been accounted for save for some small misc. Whats been done: Engine and transmission have been removed. The block has been cleaned, checked, honed and new frost plugs installed. Currently the block is .030 over with minor ridge shop said within limits on the bore I would go .040 with new pistons. The heads have been completely rebuilt with bronze guides and unleaded valve seats. Pistons have been cleaned but one is cracked. The old crank was replaced with a good core and turned/polished it will need a hole bored for a pilot bearing. All of this at a cost of almost $900.00 The Bad: This 442 will need complete restoration as you can see in the photos. There is rust in the quarters and the trunk area is shot also there is some rust on the rear body mounts. Along the line the rear panel structure was cut out (was told for full length tailights) between the tailights and that will need repaired. The front fenders are pretty banged up but a good set comes with the car. Bumpers are banged up as well but will need chromed anyway and that comes with the price of chroming. It has the original axle but has been removed from the car. The posi unit is broke (common) but the gears are in good shape. The current axle that is in the car is not included the original axle will be bolted in and the car will be made into a roller although the new owner will need to replace broken parts to make the rear axle functional. Whats not included: The current axle under the car (original in its place). Some small misc parts and the console. Tires/wheels in pic also are not included, good rolling tires/wheels will be provided Title: A good clear Kansas title. It has a offroad designation so it will need to be inspected before driving. What to expect: Everthing! A car that needs total restoration. Most every part will need refurbished or replaced. Expect the unexpected! I could spend hours on the description so I would only advise bidding on this car if you have the knowledge of how time consuming a project like this can be. There may be some smaller less expensive parts that are missing so again expect the unexpected! Pickup: I will help buyer load. Please bring proper equipment to secure and room for parts. Terms: Cash only on pickup: A deposit via paypal within 48hrs of $500 or a overnight money order. I will not negotiate on the final sale price so know what you are bidding on and ask questions first. If these basic terms cannot be met dont bid! Thanks for looking!
