Vehicle Detail
This Camaro was bought last year with the intentions of doing a restoration, but we still haven't gotten to do much with it. When we got it, it had been sitting in a barn in GA with a license plate from 1976 on it. The previous owner had done a very amateur paint job, with amateur body work underneath. It really should be done again. It didn't run when it arrived to us, and now that has all been fixed. New tune up parts, a new carburetor, a new fuel pump, and another fuel tank and sending unit. It starts at the bump of the key, and it idles well. It seems to have plenty of power, even though we haven't driven it that much. The engine doesn't knock, smoke, rattle, or leak anything. We changed the oil twice, ran about 5 gallons of gas through the car, and now it's ready for a new owner. The fuel gauge actually works ! The interior all there, but should be replaced. The door panels are showing there age with tears and wrinkles, and the headliner is torn in many places. The dash is complete, minus the radio. The carpet is the wrong kind, and the front and rear seats are original, but the fronts are ripped up so there are seat covers on them. Plan on buying an interior package, unless you are going to be doing a custom or aftermarket/modern set up. The Muncie transmission with Hurst shifter works well, as does the clutch. No issues. It goes through all of the gears nicely. The 10 bolt non-posi rear end is quiet and smooth. The master cylinder was replaced, and any lines that needed attention were fixed. It should probably be bled one more time, but it does stop the car and doesn't leak anywhere. Manual drum brakes aren't that expensive if you needed to replace anything, but we imagine whoever buys this will probably add disc brakes anyway. The car received new floor pans and a new trunk pan. The previous owner had that done prior to us getting it, so we can only comment on what was done, not how it was done. The rear frame rails are PERFECT ! You can see every factory spot weld, and there is no rust whatsoever. The same goes for the subframe and body mounts. It looks much better underneath than you would expect. It also has a new steel cowl hood. There isn't an exhaust system to speak of. It has manifolds and pipes back to the rear differential, but it was cut off there. There are no mufflers or tailpipes. Once again, we didn't see the need to put them on, knowing that the new owner will likely add flowmasters and headers. What is there appears to be solid, and doesn't leak. It is obviously loud due to the lack of mufflers. The steering is surprisingly effortless, with no excessive play. The car was sold to us with 78,xxx actual miles, so it's possible that the front end components are original. We didn't address anything electrical, so you'll have to go through each subsystem and see what it needs. Nothing looks hacked up, so it should just be a matter of tracing everything out. The glass is all there, and is in "driver quality" condition. The front and rear windows roll up and down, and the regulators don't seem to need anything. The car is pretty much complete, and is in overall restorable condition. The parts that are normally bad on these cars are the frame rails, floors, trunk, and subframe. These have already been replaced or are great as they are. It will need love and attention, but when you're done...you'll have a 69 Camaro with a V-8 and a 4 Speed !!! THE SMALL PRINT / LEGAL STUFF: The car is being listed to be sold. We no longer have a place to store it, so it needs to go. Only serious bidders, and no dreamers. The reserve price on this car is under $10,000, so if you can't afford it, or haven't gotten permission to buy it yet, please go look at other cars. We prefer to NOT take trades, but who knows. If it's something we can use, or something we can sell to get our money back, we would consider it. An outright sale is what we're looking for, so bid accordingly. A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction's end, with the balance to be paid within 72 hours of the auction's end. We can't really store it for very long, but if you need a week or two to set up shipping, we can probably swing that, but it will be parked outdoors. Anything longer than that will have to be worked out once the car is paid for. We can help with shipping, and can help load the car or meet the driver at a convenient location. A Buy it Now can be added, and I also reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Once the reserve is met, the auction will run it's course. Don't wait until the last minute, and please ask all questions prior to bidding. You can contact me directly through ebay by using the " Ask a Question" link. If you need me to call you, please send me your phone number and I'll call you as soon as I can.
