Vehicle Detail
I purchased this 1973 JEEP WAGONEER from the original owner October 8th, 2008. I found this JEEP in Silverton Colorado while answering an ad for a trailer that was for sale. When I arrived to look at the trailer I noticed the JEEP sitting in a tiny garage with all kinds of things piled on and around it. I asked the owner if the JEEP was for for sale and the owner told me that he would have to talk to his family about it. The owner told me that his Grandfather lived in Arizona and also had a vacation home and a silver claim in Silverton Colorado. He told me that his Grandfather purchased the JEEP WAGONEER brand new in Arizona and drove it to his home in Silverton Colorado and left the JEEP at his Colorado home so he and his wife would have a dependable vehicle to drive while they were there. The JEEP was stayed in Silverton Colorado from 1973 until 2008 when I took the JEEP to my ranch in Durango Colorado. I had the JEEP transported to my home in Texas in October 2011 to give to my son for his birthday but my wife said if this JEEP did not have air bags then I would have to buy him one that did, so I bought him a new Jeep Wrangler and now have this awesome and original JEEP for sale. The owner told me that when his Grandfather passed away his Grandmother drove the JEEP until she was too old to drive any longer and then his Grandmother gave the JEEP and her home in Silverton to her Grandson (the person I bought the JEEP from) in 1995, he used the JEEP during the summer to run errands and such. The JEEP was parked in the garage in 2001 with 53,000 original miles on the odometer. All the miles on the JEEP were put on it in and around Silverton Colorado and surrounding areas. About two weeks after I first saw the JEEP the owner called me and said that he had talked it over with his wife and kids and said that they were willing to sell the JEEP for the right price so we agreed on a tentative price and the JEEP was removed from the garage and I went to look at it ( I took a trailer with me). When I drove up and saw the entire JEEP for the first time I was simply amazed at its condition. The body had a few scratches and dings on it from being in the garage but it was rust free and wreck free. The tires appeared to be original to the JEEP and I had to bring a new battery with me to see if it would turn over. I put the new battery in and 5 gallons of super unleaded and the JEEP fired right up. The original exhaust system was shot but the old girl purred like a kitten. I drove the JEEP around the small town of Silverton with no hesitations. When I arrived back at the owners home we agreed on a price and I loaded the JEEP onto my trailer and took it back to my ranch in Durango Colorado. I then took the Jeep to the local Jeep dealership in Durango and they did everything necessary to bring the old JEEP back up to snuff. They drained and replaced all the fluids, cleaned the gas tank, inspected and adjusted the brakes, cleaned the carb, serviced the transmission, checked all the electronics, fixed the rear window switch, and installed all new COOPER ALL TERRAIN TIRES, including the spare. I then took the JEEP to a professional body shop and had all the dents and dings taken out with paintless dent repair and I had all the minor scratches painted over, the truck has 80% of the original paint still on it. We drove the JEEP back to my ranch where we enjoyed driving it around the ranch looking at wildlife and an occasional jaunt to town. When I decided to give the truck to my son I sent the JEEP to a very reputable brake and suspension shop, Southwest Brake in San Antonio Tx. and had NEW LEAF SPRINGS installed, COMPLETE NEW BRAKE SYSTEM, NEW WHEEL BEARINGS, front end adjustment, and BRAND NEW SHOCKS installed. I also had a complete new exhaust system installed that replicates the stock exhaust as closely as possible. This JEEP has a AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM that blows ice cold and the stock original interior is as clean and neat as a pin. All the instruments works and the JEEP starts, runs, shifts, drive and stops wonderfully. There is a couple of small dents on the hood that could not be addressed by the paintless dent repair so I left them because I did not want to paint the hood. This JEEP is in awesome and collectable condition and the new owner will be well pleased with it. The JEEP can be seen at Cambridge Automotive in San Antonio Texas, I am having trouble keeping the windshield wipers working and it is being looked after at this premier shop that I have used for 15 years. Outside inspections are welcome and encouraged. There are warranties on all the recent work and again this JEEP is in fine shape, rust free, wreck free, very low original mileage, all updates in place, garage kept and original owners until I bought the JEEP. The JEEP shows very well and is very dependable and solid. This JEEP comes with many service invoices and some factory literature. As with any antique, original vehicle this JEEP is not perfect but it is as close as you can get. This JEEP is am absolute time capsule, it even smells new inside. Please check out my feedback, bid with confidence and bid to win this FINE 1973 JEEP WAGONEER. Thank you for looking at my auction and as always, God bless and happy motoring.
