Vehicle Detail
NO RESERVE: Highest bidder wins! My cell phone # is (317) 363-0171 Wow! What a nice piece of American history. This is a 1981 Pontiac Trans Am that looks Bad to the Bone, with the Bandit stripes and exactly what I wanted T-TOPS. Let's face it, there are not many cars on the road that get more looks than this Bandit with the sun shining and the T-Tops out. This is a nice car, but it is NOT PERFECT. Please do not think this vehicle is immaculate, because it is not. It is a "daily driver." Now don't get me wrong, I have poured a lot of money into this Trans Am. It has been very well taken care of an maintained. I will tell you the good & the bad. 1. It does NOT have a 6.6 Liter. That is just a sticker. This is a 301 or 305? I am guessing, not quite sure. I purchased this vehicle from a local firefighter in our area. The pictures pretty much describe this car inside and out, and you can see the Good as well as the Bad flaws. From 10 feet away, it looks immaculate. From up close, you can see that it is not perfect. 2. This car is NOT a rust bucket. It is a VERY SOLID CAR. I am being careful to not describe it as perfect, but you also must realize this is NOT a piece of junk. Overall, it is a nice car. 3. This car has an Excalibur Alarm, that has remote door locks. I will be honest with you. Sometimes the remote door locks work, sometimes they don't. I am not sure why but I am sure it is something simple like a loose wire. 4. The head-unit radio is an Alpine CDA-9886. It has the cord to hook right up to an iPhone or iPod. I have been using my iPad to listen to music. I have wires run to the trunk for an Amp and Sub-Woofers, but I never got around to getting those. I can tell you, this stereo is loud! 5. I live about 45 minutes from my work, and I drive it all the time. I never worry about it starting or getting me where I am going. It trust this car 110 percent. Every once in awhile, it will idle high and I have my friend adjust the float. When I left it outside once, it was really cold and it took a minute to start. When it is in the garage, it starts like a charm. I know a lot of these older cars can be hard to start when it is really cold outside, so I am glad mine is kept inside! 6. I do not drive this car in the rain or the snow. I keep it parked in my heated garage and only drive it when it is nice outside! 7. The tires are Firestone Firehawks "Indy 500" series, 225 / 70 / 15s. They are about 90 percent tread (lots of life left), wrapped in the traditional honeycomb wheels. 8. Optima battery, starts every time. 9. The interior: The seats are aftermarket knock-off Recaros Seats and they look really sharp in this car. The seats are pretty close to new looking all the way around. The carpet is like new as well, and I have two sets of floor mats (one carpet and one rubber) to make sure the carpets stay like new. The headliner is in decent shape. Some of the plastic pieces on the inside are faded, and I have that in pictures. Also, the top dash is a little cracked, so I put a dash pad over it. 10. The exterior: The black paint really shines. I do not believe this was originally black. I am not sure what the original paint color was, but I believe maybe dark brown. I am not sure. There are some blemishes in the paint. It shines like new, but it is not perfect. The door jams are a little rough around the edges. The paint job was a professional paint job, but it was NOT a frame-offer restoration. This is an average paint job but it looks really nice and shines great. 11. The floor plans are solid. They are not rusted out. They are solid in the front two and the rear trunk pan is solid as well. 12. The title will be from me to you. Please look at the pictures closely and I believe they will tell you that this car is exactly "as described" ... I very nice daily driver, but NOT perfect. 13. You will NOT get a plate to drive on, so if you want to pick it up then bring a trailer or your own plate. I will give you a Bill of Sale. Yes, I will put a plate on it for a "test drive" but you can't take my plate home, sorry :-) 14. I was told by the firefighter who sold this car to me that the T-Tops do not leak. I only drove it once in the rain, and to be honest, it did leak a little (not bad), but I think the rubber around the T-Tops would need replaced to make it perfect. 15. The mileage reads somewhere in the 90s. But I am selling the miles to be EXEMPT. I have no idea what the miles are on this car. On Jan-30-12 at 15:35:05 PST, seller added the following information: 16. There is a little surface rust showing through on the bottom of the driver's rear quarter near the back bumper. 17. Underneath the car it looks solid. The only place that I see two holes rusted through are the back bumper itself underneath the car (you can't see it unless you are under the car). The rockers along both sides of the car are solid. Overall, the underneath of this car is solid, solid, solid. On Jan-30-12 at 18:56:15 PST, seller added the following information: *** Also, forgot to mention in the AD that this car DOES have ice cold air conditioning and good heat ***
