Vehicle Detail
Offered for your consideration is this 1968 Corvette Coupe. The car was ordered from Libbey Motor Sales in Bryan Ohio in late May of 68 My sister-in-law acquired the car in the fall of 1991, with 85,914 miles showing, and it's been her baby for the last 20+ years. It's now displaying 92508 miles, less than 7000 miles in over 20 years. It's finished in Silverstone Silver with a Gunmetal Gray interior. We have no ownership history of the car prior to her acquiring it in 1991. I've checked as many of the "numbers" as I could and everything appears to be original to the car. Below is a photo of the engine pad showing the original stampings. I was unable to find the stamping location on the transmission but have no reason to believe it has ever been changed. The differential is stamped 1AV6468W which translates to a 3.08 posi from June 4 1968. The alternator is stamped 1100750 61A and dated 8D25, correct for a A/C car built in June of 68. The starter is stamped 1108338 and dated 8E21, also correct for a June 68 car. The original carburator comes with the car but it is currently running with a Holley in its place. After many years of attempting to have the original tuned and even having had it rebuilt, she gave up and installed the Holley. You get both with the car and you can decide which you want to use. We put the car up on a lift and the frame is absolutely solid, at some point the car was undercoated and although it's peeling now it looks like it may have saved the frame. Here's the drivers side kick-up: and here's the passenger side also a picture of the "saddle" area, prone to being caved in In November of 1994 (about 6000 miles ago) she had the carpet replaced and the seats recovered. Everything works on the car as it should except the clock. It was rebuilt back in the 90's and ran for a year then quit. Just like when it was new. Depending on your location you may or may not be able to listen to an FM radio station, no chance of getting anything on the AM band. Even the fiber optics work although some of the indicators are faint when lit. Here's the Corvette Order Copy, commonly called the tank sheet, removed from the original gas tank when it was replaced in 2008. She's owned the car for just over 20 years, put almost 7000 miles on it and has receipts for well over $12000 that she's spent maintaining the car. The oil has been changed at least once a year which averages to less than 500 miles between changes. The A/C blows cold, it's still an R12 system and about every other year she adds a can of R12 to keep it blowing cold. Two full cans come with the car. She had 4 BF Goodrich TA radials installed 500 miles ago (November of 2008), as well as a 4 wheel alignment done at the same time. Below is a copy of an invoice showing a new aluminum radiator, new fuel tank, new fuel lines, new calipers, new rotors, new brake lines and hoses, new U-joints, new rear wheel bearings along with assorted other incidentals. page two There you have it, it's solid and original and in really really nice shape, but it is 45 years old and has not been restored. So here's the nasty stuff. Windshield is showing some delamination in the lower drivers side corner. Passenger door showing some lumps, I think it may have been reskinned at some point in time. nicks on the wheel arches, drivers side front, pass side rear and rear deck showing a little paint crazing Here's a photo of the passengers T-Top, the crazing is most pronounced here "Ouchie" behind the front bumper. The colors below the emblem are either a reflection or lens flare, they're not on the car. One last one that I don't understand, appears to be a patch below the drivers seat. Maybe someone broke through by positioning a jack incorrectly? Here's a couple more random shots just to let you know the car a little better. (And yes, it's sitting here idling at 850) Here's one more document that I hope puts this car into perspective. It's an appraisal done in 2008 by Eismann's Corvette Center. They've done most of the work on the car for the last 10 years. Please realize that although this is from 2008 the car has been driven less than 1000 miles since this was done. I know values today are not what they were in 2008 but hopefully you understand the overall quality of the car I'm describing. No, he's wrong, the car does NOT have power windows or leather seats but it does have power steering. Why after 20 years is she selling? Her back has failed, it's always been a struggle for her to get in and out of her vette, each year getting progressively worse. It's reached a point that she simply can no longer enjoy this car. Included with the sale of the car are two sets of original keys, the original cigarette lighter, the original owners manual in its' plastic pouch, a stack of receipts, the original carb, two cans of R12 and anything else we can find that belongs with the car. Please ask any questions before placing a bid. If you want additional photos, let me know what you need and I'll do my best to get them to you promptly. The car is presently titled and registered in Pennsylvania but is currently in Florida. $1500 deposit due within 48 hours of the sales completion and full payment within 7 days of the sales completion. Buyer is responsible for transportation or shipping. The car isn't going anywhere until payment in full is made. Thanks, but no she's not interested in firearms or motorcycles in trade. Please be aware, we put an additional 200 miles on the car in the last couple weeks and the car is running great.
