Here is a a great example of how to spend too much money to clone an rs carrera, Trust me buy this one and do a few fun weekend projects but dont try to complete one unless your a Porsche Technician. You cant get a project RS to this level for what you can buy this car for. This car has been gone through pretty well to look like the RS, it began as an 1969 912, it has been converted to a 2.7 motor, mated to a 915 transmission. The transmission was just completly overhauled and the motor has been resealed and both feel awesome and are very responsive.The car runs amazingly well and pulls very hard. The webers are timed and tuned perfectly and there is no smoke from the tailpipe. The interior has been almost 95 percent replaced. There are new sport racing seats with sliders that fit very well. The carpet is a low pile, brand new and looks great. There is a racing harness bar installed as well if you would like to track it with full 4 point belts. Not a full roll bar. The door panels are rs racing style as well.The headliner is perfect. Most of the rubber molding has been replaced. New gas tank installed.The only interior issues are a few bad spots where the dash was recovered and it is coming up and needing to be restretched in a couple of places, (i have photos attached of this problem area). This was really not a big deal to me but may be to you. The dash board also has has had the vinyl removed from the inserts around the radio area and may need new inserts , i kind of liked it bare as it looks chrome. The glovebox door needs the lock re placed, the ashtray is the original one and also should be replaced. But those are the only really noticiable flaws on the interior. We have just been spending way to much time and money on this one that we left a few things for the next owner to tinker with. But the car is mechanically sound and no worries there. This car can drive you back home anywhere in the country non-stop. The exterior is also pretty nice. It has the deck lid and front bumber resembling the RS. Also all the rs carrera stickers too. The wheels are painted to match, and are original Fuchs. The paint is a solid 8 and really looks excellent except for three places where i have photos attached where it bubbled a little bit. These areas are very small and not very noticeable but i have good pictures of these areas of attention. It is otherwise a great overall paint job done a few years ago and all the other areas look and shine like new. Most of the fit and finish is really nice, the doors all close tight and the windows and all the pulls for opening the deck and hood and gas release function fine. There is a new gas tank and all the wiring is excellent as well. There is almost no rust , a few surface areas and where there were some minor chips but thats it. It was a california car so very dry. This is a great clean driver for the street or track, a few more bux spent on this one and it could be a great show piece too. I love to drive it and it drives awesome. It always starts right up. There are a few squeaks in the suspension but easily fixed with upgrading the suspension, or just a few bushings or maybe a grease job.
