Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 2000 Honda RC51. This is a very powerful 1000cc V-twin bike that was built for racing, but is excellent for riding on the street - especially in the twisties around here in Pennsylvania! I purchased it from Texas where the previous owner had been working on converting it into a race bike after dropping it, then decided to convert it to a street/race bike. The fairings are the race fiberglass fairings. It has both headlights, although the high beam doesn't work, not sure why. The bike has a Power Commander USB and a stock exhaust, with the proper tune for such. It is extremely responsive, excellent mid-range torque and top-end power. I personally like the stock exhaust on this bike, so I left it on there. The tires are Dunlops and have about 1000 miles on them (I put the tires on when I bought the bike, and have only ridden it about 1000 miles), and came with an Ohlins adjustable rear shock on it. When the bike was dropped, it did cosmetic damage, but no structural damage that I can find. I've had this bike over 100 (on a track, of course...) and it has tracked straight and true. No vibrations, even hands off. It turns beautifully with no abnormalities, so the frame is straight. Other than the tires, the only things I have done to this bike are put on a throttle lock (which is easily removable, but I personally love having) and a tour pack on the rear seat. Let's face it, there's no point in even pretending this is a two-person bike. Since I used to ride it to work, I found the tour pack nice for putting in my backpack, groceries, whatever. The bike is still every bit a bike you can enjoy on these beautiful mountain roads as-is, or strip it down to go and convert to a race bike. It also has a 1/2" gel pad on top of the stock driver seat that I find it makes the ergonomics more comfortable. I'm also 6'2" with long legs, which is part of why. If you are shorter you might not want the gel pad. I will not allow test rides of the bike because there is ice on the roads this time of year. But I would ride it cross-country were it not for the snow. The bike has over 34,000 miles on it, but starts up great every time, runs hard and strong. It makes great power and torque. I am selling it because we have too many motorcycles and I need to downsize. I also have my wife's Harley Sportster 1200 for sale (check my other listings!). Please contact me with any questions. I'm glad to let you come and look at the bike, start it, etc., but as I said no test rides since there's ice on the roads this time of year and I don't want to be liable. Thanks for looking! On Jan-24-12 at 06:19:34 PST, seller added the following information: Additional information: There are some scratches on parts of the bike. The paint job is really not very good on it, more of a flat black. The fork seals do have minor leakage. I've been riding it like this, no problems. Please understand that this is not a pristine RC51. It's high mileage, it's been used. It's mechanically sound and rides beautifully, but I have received several questions on aesthetics so I wanted to clarify further. On Jan-24-12 at 06:29:43 PST, seller added the following information: Last thing: The rear shock appears to be leaking, also. The adjustment still works, but it should be rebuilt from Ohlins.
