Vehicle Detail
It has finally come to the time for us to sell our Corvette. Bought in 1997 from a Corvette dealership in Hayward, CA and driven VERY lightly in that time. We had a strong desire to restore this vehicle when "some day" came but truthfully we are not sure when that will ever be. In 2006 we had the motor and transmission completely rebuilt by Springfield Motor Supply. They also did a light rebuild on the carburetor at the time as well. We then had the radiator and high velocity fan replaced new in 2007. The master cylinder was replaced as well as the windshield wiper motor. Then last year while sitting in a parking lot someone backed into it and gave it a "kiss". This became pretty much the final straw for us as we just have too many other things going on right now. We took the insurance payment and decided that would be the end of it for us and this car. (Oh and the fact that we had twins in the meantime didn't convince us of the need to keep the vehicle either.) So here is what you are getting. A fantastic driving car, with a new motor, transmission, radiator, high velocity fan, brakes and master cylinder, glass t-tops, aluminum rims, good tread on tires, Corvette. You can see where the car was hit in the rear so it will need some fiberglass and painted. The seats are original and need to be replaced IMO as well as the electric door locks. It is a 30 year old car so that has to be taken into consideration. Given that, prior to getting "kissed" (still mad about how the guy described it to me when he told me he had backed into it) the car would literally yank people's heads off as they turned to gawk at it. Just a beautiful car and one I will surely miss. Car is 100% sold as is. Guaranteed to ride and drive with no problems. Just needs cosmetic work. The windshield also has a vertical crack on the passenger's side. It has been there for 10 years and has never been an issue with inspection to the vehicle. Literally, I completely forgot about it until I listed the car for sale. The air compressor clutch is also intermittent. It will work and then periodically hang. It is a 31 year old car so that has to be taken into consideration. Given that, prior to getting "kissed" (still mad about how the guy described it to me when he told me he had backed into it) the car would literally yank people's heads off as they turned to gawk at it. Have had a LOT of phone calls asking if the numbers match, if the car is a show pony, how many awards it has won and so on. I have no idea if the numbers match or not. The car is as I bought it in 1997. The motor and transmission that were rebuilt are the same block and tranny that were in the car. So, I would presume they are the same that came with the car. I listed the car with no reserve, starting at $1,000. Whatever it sells at is what it will sell for. So do not expect to get a 98 point Corvette for $5,000. The panels are tight, the handling is great, and is a car I thoroughly loved owning for the past 15 years. On Jan-15-12 at 12:16:58 PST, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention there are roughly 3,000 miles on the motor trans since the rebuild at Springfield Motor Supply.
