Each vehicle is thoroughly road tested before being listed on eBay so I can tell you first hand how it looks, runs and drives. Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is one of my favorite vehicles. I am an avid Mercedes enthusiast and nothing in the world comes close to driving a full sized Benz...especially the pillerless coupe. Short of the AMG Hammer, the 560 was the top of the line for the W124 chassis here in the States. Additionally, the 124 introduced many safety features to the Mercedes family such as airbags, seatbelt pretensioners and impact absorbing crumple zones. Whether you're driving a 560SEc, an S500 coupe or a CL500...you definitely feel like you're the king of the road. The pillerless coupe has a sort of timeless beauty that transcends age. One could know nothing about cars and still realize that this is quite an exclusive vehicle just by the presence it carries when you see it. I would rate the exterior condition of this coupe to be in ABOVE AVERAGE condition. Cosmetically, there is some oxidation on the roof, hood and truck which is common for these vehicles. What is important about this car is that the body is strait. There are no noticable dents or major scratches. I did not see any rust on the body of this Benz which is significant. The doors don't sag and everything lines up very well. All of the glass and lenses appear to be intact. The antenna seems to be absent and there is a little filler plug in its place. The alloy wheels are in good shape and the tires are matching and like new all around. Overall this is a beautiful vehicle. The oxidation is the absolute worst thing I can say about this entire car. One could drive it as-is or paint it and have one of the nicest, low mile coupes anywhere. I would rate the interior condition of this 560SEC to be in ABOVE AVERAGE condition. The door panels are clean and tight. The carpets are clean and full looking throughout the cabin, The tan leather seats are in good condition for the age and show very well. The headliner is clean and tight. The electric seats, windows, mirrors and sunroof work properly. All of the lights work as well. The automatic climate control system appears to be working properly. The original stereo has been upgraded to an Alpine CD unit which sounds good. The trunk is spacious and clean. This car definitely lives up to its reputation. Mechanically, this 560 appears to be in good condition. The massive 272hp 5.6L V8 starts easily and runs smoothly. I did not see any leaks and the engine does not smoke. The starter may need some attention. I don't know much about starters but sometimes it seems to just spin free. Wait a second, try it again and it starts right up...never left me sit. During my road test, this Mercedes behaved pretty well. The front suspension is tight over bumps and the steering is responsive like it should be. The rear suspension makes a little noise (I've not had a single W124 that didn't) but it's not bad. The engine keeps a steady temperature and the oil pressure is excellent. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly. The brakes stop this big coupe very well. On the highway, there is a slight vibration in the front end but it does not pull at all. My guess would be a tire out of balance because everything else feels good. The tires have even treadware and the front end is very tight. The belt squeels sometimes and I'm not sure why. I would plan on replacing the belt soon. Otherwise, this feels like a solid old Benz should. I've owned more Mercedes' than I can count. This is one of the better 124's I've seen in a while. They definitely don't make them like this anymore. If you've driven a "real" Mercedes and a "chrysler" Mercedes...you know exactly what I'm talking about. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. One could drive it as-is or paint it and have one of the nicest, low mile coupes anywhere.
I would rate the interior condition of this 560SEC to be in ABOVE AVERAGE condition. The door panels are clean and tight. The carpets are clean and full looking throughout the cabin, The tan leather seats are in good condition for the age and show very well. The headliner is clean and tight. The electric seats, windows, mirrors and sunroof work properly. All of the lights work as well. The automatic climate control system appears to be working properly. The original stereo has been upgraded to an Alpine CD unit which sounds good. The trunk is spacious and clean. This car definitely lives up to its reputation.
Mechanically, this 560 appears to be in good condition. The massive 272hp 5.6L V8 starts easily and runs smoothly. I did not see any leaks and the engine does not smoke. The starter may need some attention. I don't know much about starters but sometimes it seems to just spin free. Wait a second, try it again and it starts right up...never left me sit. During my road test, this Mercedes behaved pretty well. The front suspension is tight over bumps and the steering is responsive like it should be. The rear suspension makes a little noise (I've not had a single W124 that didn't) but it's not bad. The engine keeps a steady temperature and the oil pressure is excellent. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly. The brakes stop this big coupe very well. On the highway, there is a slight vibration in the front end but it does not pull at all. My guess would be a tire out of balance because everything else feels good. The tires have even treadware and the front end is very tight. The belt squeels sometimes and I'm not sure why. I would plan on replacing the belt soon. Otherwise, this feels like a solid old Benz should. I've owned more Mercedes' than I can count. This is one of the better 124's I've seen in a while. They definitely don't make them like this anymore. If you've driven a "real" Mercedes and a "chrysler" Mercedes...you know exactly what I'm talking about.
