Vehicle Detail
You are looking at what was a VERY CLEAN and well maintained 1986 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 with a V8 engine, a 5 speed MANUAL Transmission and a 4 barrel carb.......well, at least until 12/16/11. We just finished a restoration of this car last month but sustained an engine compartment fire while driving down the road. Apparently, there was some sort of electrical malfunction/short with the windshield wipers. From our intial inspection, the damage appears to be LIMITED to the engine compartment ONLY (wires, belts, hoses, engine components...alternator, etc. ). The engine itself appears to be largely intact and undamaged. The only visible exterior damage was some bubbling of the paint on the hood. The hood was otherwise undamaged and will only need to be repainted. This is a CALIFORNIA car so rust is not an issue. In anticipation of a sale, the car recently did take and pass a CA Smog Check inspection with flying colors (08/11). The current engine pictures posted include the "before and.....after" pictures. If you have a Pick N' Pull nearby, you're in luck as buying the needed components will be far, far less expensive. The good news is that we have SO MANY pictures (100 +) of the build to reference that repairing the damage will be made far easier. Cost of repairs.....best guess, if you can do the work yourself, the parts will run you $500 - $1,000 to repair (if you have a Pick N Pull nearby). The damage was NOT reported to the insurance company so you will have a clear title. Once repaired, the car will most likely be worth 5K. Not a bad investment. During the build, we pretty much had gone over the whole car top to bottom. The interior is still just as nice as the exterior (with the exception of the hood) although it may be hard to tell from the pictures (because of the reflection of the sun on the solid black interior). I restore old Porsche's as a hobby and and this was my first American project car in years. As you can see, the results were/are stunning. We have ALL receipts from this project, many shop manuals and many pictures of the build. We also have many high quality, hard to find and expensive parts in our "parts library" that all come with the car! You can keep the parts or.....sell them to cover the cost of repairs. It's up to you. Parts include an extra engine wiring harness (who knew), extra interior parts, some engine parts, hoods, extra set of wheels, etc. NOTE: if you are shipping the car, if you want the spare parts - it's optional - you don't have to take them if you don't want to......(just let me know at auction close). BF Goodrich Raised White Letter T/A Radial Tires only have 1,000 miles or less on them. The car also comes with a second set of T/A Radials that have about 5,000 miles on them. The car currently has an AM/FM Single CD player with Ipod interface installed but the car also comes with the original AM/FM Cassette radio (included in the "parts library" that comes with car). The exterior color of the car is metallic black. Please ask ALL questions BEFORE you bid. If you have less than 10 feedback results, please contact me first before bidding or I will not accept your bid. I do have the car listed elsewhere and therefore reserve the right to end the auction early. I am willing to store the car for a brief period of time, longer for a fee. I can help facilitate international shipping if you are out of the country (at your expense). I can also help you with lower 48 shipping if needed (at your expense). I have shipped my Porsche projects all over the world so I am familiar with the best (and most reasonably priced) shippers. The car is located in Napa, CA 94558. Payment.........The FULL payment is due within 5 days of auction close......or as agreed to IN ADVANCE. Payment must be in the form of a cashier's check from a known and fully recognized bank and/or financial institution or by wire transfer or as agreed to IN ADVANCE of auction close. Sorry, but I do NOT accept Paypal (they aren't what they used to be).
