Vehicle Detail
I have been a collector of air cooled Porsche and 1967 and older Volkswagens for the last 20 years. I am a PCA member in good standing and have a great reputation in the industry and on ebay I currently have a collection of 52 vintage Porsche and VW and in that collection I have 4 pristine 1976 Porsche 912e's, most likely 4 of the best 912e's in the world. The Porsche 912e is a very rare automobile, only 2099 were ever produced and they were produced only one year (1976) and it was produced for the North American market only. The 912e's are 911's in every way except they weigh a lot less. come with a 2.0 liter boxer style 4 cylinder motor derived from the legendary 356 and the 912e has 14"Fuch wheels instead of the 15" Fuchs that came on the 911's. The 1976 912e is the last rear engine, air cooled car that Porsche ever built. The 912e was much lighter than the 911 and is considered by many purist as the best drivers car Porsche ever produced. The Boxer style motor has been proven over and over throughout time as being the most reliable and bullet proof motor ever produced by Porsche. Although Volkswagen was heavily involved with Porsche in 1976 the motor in the 912e was all Porsche. The 912e has great fuel economy and a very powerful motor and coupled with a smooth shifting 5 speed transmission. It has a fuel range of 600 miles. The Porsche 912e is very inexpensive to run and maintain. Porsche has always over built their cars and the 912e is no exception. I strongly recommend that you log onto Porsche912e.com for a better history and detail of this fine automobile. I had 5 of these 912e's but I sold my white one to a collector in Florida 2 years ago. All of the cars I purchase for my collection are as close to factory original as possible and are always rust free and wreck free or I do not buy them. I am very picky when it comes to the cars I invest in and this 912e is a solid investment quality car. I am retiring in 2 years to my ranch in Colorado (all of my collector cars are located at my ranch in Texas) and my interest are shifting back toward the hot rod game so I am selling the bulk of my collection of German hardware to build a hot rod shop in Colorado. I will be selling a lot of cars over the next couple of years and I started selling them 2 years ago and still have 30 cars I want to sell. I don't like going to the Barrett Jackson style auctions because they want to keep too much of my money for themselves and plus I am in no hurry. The car that I am putting up in this auction is my Guards Red 1976 Porsche 912e with Savanna Beige interior. The VIN# on this car is 9126000084 making this the 84th car to come off the production line. It is a very original, complete and well sorted numbers matching car. This 912e is an original California Blue Plate car that has had two owners and has been garaged/ warehoused its entire life in California until I brought it to dry Central Texas in 2008 where it has been in my climate controlled warehouse since day one. It currently has 222000 miles on the odometer and the motor, fuel injection system and transmission were all professionally rebuilt at the same time at 163000 miles. This car has just returned from a pre-sale checkup at Jones Autowerks in San Antonio Texas where the car was gone through at great length and was given a clean bill of health after the car was fitted with a new battery and a brand new set of Kumo performance tires. The 15" Fuch wheel were also professionally refurbished. Please take the time to look up Jones Autowerks, they are one of North Americas premier air cooled Porsche specialist and there roots run all the way back to the Porsche factory. They are world renowned. I have been using their shop exclusively many years and would trust no other shop with my prized air cooled Porsche automobiles. This 912e is one of the best original /survivor 912e's in the world. It starts, runs, shifts, drives and stops like it did when it was new. The specialist at Jones Autowerks that worked on this car told me that this 912e was the best he has ever seen. This 912e is rust free, wreck free and the paint is so deep that you can actually read a news paper in the paint (see the picture of that). The car is very straight, correct, well sorted and the gaps are perfect. I purchased this car from the second owner/ collector in 2008 and besides the recent checkup, battery and tires I have done nothing to the car. The car has not even been detailed, it is that clean. This car had just passed California's strict smog test right before I bought it. The things that are not original on this car is a simple and tasteful Blapunkt stereo system, a dash cap and 15" Fuch wheels, that is all that comes to mind. The original Savanna Beige interior is vey nice and clean and still smells like new. This 912e has its original owners manual and records. This 912e is one of the 500 cars equipped with an electric sliding sunroof which adds more value to the car because it is the rarest of the rare. Only 500 of these cars were ever produced, how many still exist? I have a clear California title in hand for the new owner. Porsche 912e's are coming into the realm of being highly sought after collector cars that are gaining tremendously in value very quickly. Prices on #1 an #2 cars have doubled since 2007 and this makes it a good point for me to sell some of my collection. This is a solid #2 car and will be a prize for any collection. This is not an inexpensive car and it will not be sold cheap, I will get my price or I won't sell it. This is an opportunity for for someone to buy a true collector car at a good price point and sit back and watch it gain in value with very little upkeep cost. Don't pass up the opportunity to own this fine automobile, you will regret it. Cash is King so don't shy away from making me a realistic offer on this investment opportunity and if it meets my needs then I reserve the right to end the auction early. This Porsche 912e is a solid and beautiful car but I in no way offer or suggest any guarantees or warrantees on the car. I welcome outside inspections of this Porsche by outside sources by appointment only. Please take into account the feedback rating that I have maintained with ebay when considering the purchase of this Porsche automobile. Please feel free to contact Jones Autowerks about this automobile. Bid with confidence and bid to win, don't let this one pass you by. God Bless , Merry Christmas and as always, Happy Motoring.
