Vehicle Detail
This exceptional '73 RSR recreation offers the best of Porsche engineering. On the outside, one of the most beautiful Porsches ever built, the '73 RSR. But underneath, a galvanized 491 coupe with tons of power. The car started life as a rare 1984 Turbo Look coupe. Cars with Porsche option 491, factory Turbo Look, were built with the same bodywork, brakes, and suspension as the 930 turbo, but with a normally aspirated 3.2 liter motor. During the eight year transformation, the body was backdated to an all steel RSR tribute. The original steel 930 front fenders were modified by grafting in the lower turn signal sections removed from rust free '73 fenders. The front hood latch panel was also converted using '73 parts. Finally, the sunroof was also deleted by welding in a piece of roof skin. After the welding was completed, the car was repainted retaining it's original Grand Prix white paint color. The interior was restored using RSR rear seat delete carpets, RSR door panels with leather pulls, Italian reproduction seats, and an early aluminum steering wheel (the only one like it I've seen was on a 934.5). The wheels are 3 piece Fuchs, in traditional RSR black with bright spoke finish. Even the spare is a deep 6" Fuch in RSR finish. The suspension consists of factor Bilstein struts/shocks and stiffer torsion bars, but retaining the factory sway bars. This gives the car great handling, an extremely sporty feel, while not being harsh on the street. Perhaps the most exciting part of the car is the motor. This RSR comes equipped with a low mile 1997 3.6 liter Vario-ram motor. Chipped, with modified air cleaner and exhaust, it has an estimated 300 horse power. The car has a great exhaust note and absolutely turns heads wherever it goes. Not to mention it is FAST! This is your chance to own a truely great automobile with wonderful "muscle car" power, great handling, and amazing classic styling.
