Here we have another great No Reserve auction from C&J Auto Sales. This is a 1997 Ford F350 crew cab 4x4 pickup with the hard to find manual transmission. Before you get too excited, you should know this truck will need a considerable amount of restoration and work to be nice. On the plus side, it does run and drive and would probably be sound enough for a cross country trip. It's also going to sell for very reasonable. I am starting the bidding at what just the value of some of the major parts are worth. The front and rear differentials, 7.3 Powerstroke engine and turbo, etc...are worth more than the starting price. This truck is what I would consider to be either a project, part it out , or fix it up and have one heck of a stout truck. I will try to give you as accurate of a description as possible, but this is one of those projects that really should be inspected in person to fully understand what you are bidding on. This has obviously been used as a farm/ ranch truck and there are ALL the dents dings, scratches, etc.. associated with a 15 year old work truck with 300K on the clock. I will start with the main negative issues. The transmission is quite difficult to shift into reverse (It's tricky) and the 4th gear syncro is worn. I have been driving it around like this, matching RPM's to speed, but it really should be rebuilt. The electrical ignition switch on the steering columnn has failed and is now by-passed with a push button starter switch. The glow plug relay also isn't working, so it absolutely HAS to be plugged in overnight for it to start in the morning. It does fire up immediately on the first crank when plugged in. Otherwise, forget it. The engine sounds beautiful and the turbo spools up fine and produces great boost. It still runs incredibly strong. There is no noticeable smoke of any colors, cold or hot. There is a puddle of diesel fuel on the topside of the engine. Probably a bad fuel line or filter O-ring. The catalytic converter has been removed, so if you live in an emissions regulated area, please understand it will not pass that visual inspection. Colorado emissions will not pass the truck, so if you live here, we will only sell the truck to you as a "tow away" because of that. The 4x4 high and low work great. The brakes stop excellent. Interior and instrument lights work, The radio is garbage. Dual tanks both work and read correctly. Windshield and all glass good. Power locks don't work corrrectly. Power windows go up and down. Heater works, haven't even tried the A.C. I took the truck down the interstate and it flies down the road at 75MPH effortlessly. Please keep in mind the truck is a major project. There is a ton of potential here, but it's far from new. So that's what I can think of for now . Please feel free to ask questions. There are many different companies that specialize in doing nothing but that. They generally charge between $100-$175 and THAT may truly be a bargain to give you piece of mind and any additional info you may need. The vehicle will be made available for inspection by appointment. If you decide to forego the inspection, there really is no reason you should be unhappy about anything after the auction has ended. Most of our vehicles are generally purchased at dealer only auctions for the sole purpose of resale. We sell these vehicles FAR below any dealer retail prices. This gives you room for any additional repairs that you see fit. They have not undergone ANY type of inspections/ or tests for ANYTHING. This includes emmissions and safety inspections. We cannot guarantee compliance of the vehicle for your state, because every state has different requirements as far as safety and emissions inspections are concerned.
