Vehicle Detail

1978 International Scout Traveler RWD Original Single Owner Survivor 92,300 Original Miles 345 V8 Auto I am helping a friend sell this International Scout Traveler, which was owned by his Father who bought it brand new. It has a Trailer Brake Package, the 345 V8, and since the gentleman was never into 4 wheeling (RWD - 2WD), the engine/tranny/suspension has never been beat on. The Interior is in GREAT condition. Here is what I know of the vehicle as I got it road worthy for the family. . . The Gas Gauge does not work, Factory AC is missing the belt, Needs new Exhaust Front to Rear, the only other rust is on the sheet metal around the wheel wells and bottom of doors. I could not see any structural rust anywhere I looked. 345 V8 starts easy and runs great. Kick down function might need adjustment, since although Tranny shifts and downshifts well, it does not drop down when you punch it. It could also be that since the vehicle sat in a garage for the last 6 years, and was only a grocery getter for around 2 years before that. Again, I am simply helping the Son sell it since his Father died several years ago, and they wanted it out of the garage. When I got into it, I replaced a few vacuum hoses and the carb gasket, new correct two stage Thermostat, new battery, fuel filter, new Distributor Cap and Rotor, small adjustments to 2 bbl Holley carb, and it runs great. I drove it to my house about 5 miles away from his house with no issues. Tires are in pretty good shape, it has never been in an accident, and the gentleman who owned it was a stickler for maintenance. It also comes with an original edition of the Factory Service Manual. If I were buying it, (just for common sense) I would simply change all the hoses, belts, and plug wires, change the oil, and flush the tranny and radiator, but other than that, it is good to go, very solid, and reliable vehicle. Even if you were to buy it just to pick parts off it, or take the 345 V8, doors, interior parts, etc... it would still be worth it to grab it, since this vehicle was basically babied for the whole time he owned it since brand new. I would keep it myself, but I am already restoring an old muscle car, and do not have room to keep it. As of 11/5/11 it is parked next to my garage, with a tarp over it. Let me know if you have any questions and I will try and get answers. Vehicle is sold As-Is. I do not know how to arrange transportation, so you would have to handle that, or drive it away. I would need a deposit through PayPal to hold the vehicle within 48 hours of winning the auction. After the Deposit, I would need you to wrap up the Payment / Sale and get the Title and Vehicle within a few days. I prefer PayPal for Payment. Hopefully a true Scout Lover gets this vehicle, because Original Owner, True Survivor Scouts in this good of shape are just not often seen. Thanks for looking... NEW INFO 11/18/11 @ 8am - I had a question about the underside rust condition, so I took more pics, but can't figure out how to make room for them in the ad, and upload the new ones. I spoke with the son, to get more info on previous usage and storage, because the underside looks so good. he said his father loved this vehicle and NEVER let it be outside the garage at night, especially in winter. Many disagreements in the family about who got the garage spot, and the Scout was non-negotiable. That might be one reason it has so little rust. Again, the vehicle is not "rust free", but very little. I also inspected the rubber donut body mounts, and found no structural rust or rot, but they are dried, but only minor cracking. I did see some surface rust underneath where the body panels meet under the trunk and back seat, but no holes or rust through. Around the leaf springs a saw a little bit of flake rust, but nothing more. I inspected more of that rust around the rear wheel well, shown in pics, and it is flaking to various degrees of depth. it is shown in pics. If anyone wants me to send the new pics I took of the underside I can, but I can't figure out yet how to delete pics and I am at the limit, except for two more allowed by Ebay. GOOD LUCK SCOUT LOVERS !!! cd
