Vehicle Detail
Listing this car for my niece, she is 20 years old and needs the money to pay for college. This 2004 Honda Accord LX 4-Door 4-cylinder was purchased brand new in Southern California by my father-in-law. At the time, he was in real estate sales in southern California, mainly the Inland Empire / San Bernardino Valley areas. The vast majority of the miles on this car were highway miles by my father in law who was in his 60's the entire time he owned the car. Being in real estate, and doing a lot of highway driving, my father in law had the oil changed on this car every 3000 miles RELIGIOUSLY! In 2007 he gave the car to my niece, who, at the time lived in the San Bernardino area. In 2008, the niece came to live with us in Long Island, NY, in order to attend community college here. The car was shipped here via DAS auto shipping. Before it was shipped here, her parents had an oil change, new tires, and new brakes done on the car. Presently has 64,411 miles on the odometer, but is being driven 20-50 miles per week, on average, so that number will be slightly higher when the auction ends.As you can see from the pictures, the car still has CA plates, it is still licensed and insured at her parents address there. Since the niece has moved here, the car has been used to commute to community college 2-3 days per week (approx 7 miles each way), to go to her part time job 2-3 days per week (1 mile each way), and occasional trips to the local suburban mall, movies, etc. It has never been driven in NYC, and has never been driven in snow. The niece, being a southern California girl, is terrified of driving in snow, and even though we tried to encourage her to do so, she wouldn't, so I drove her to school the few times we've had snow since she's lived her. Since she has been here I think she has put less than 5000 miles on the car. I drive it once a week or so, and usually get it out on the highway. I have changed the oil using Castrol GTX 5w20 oil and genuine Honda filters, and lubed the chassis, at least twice year each year since she has been here, in spite of the low mileage. There are 2 known issues with the vehicle, which I will disclose here: 1. The power locks have an issue which I am told is either a relay or actuator. It mainly only effects the front passenger door, where that lock does not 'follow' the other locks in the lock or unlock direction. I am willing to have this fixed, or come to an agreement about the cost (I have been told it could range from $100-$200 to fix this, and that it would best to have a Honda dealer fix it) and have the ultimate sale price reflect the agreed cost to fix.2. During a snowstorm in February 2011, I lightly hit the passenger side rear fender / quarter panel with my truck in our driveway. She was parked in a curve on our driveway, and I cleared the snow around her car in the morning with the snow blower. When I came home that night, the car was still snowy (the niece had a 'snow day' from community college and as I said, she is afraid to drive in the snow), and I misjudged where the car was as I negotiated the curve in the driveway and the front bumper of my Sierra glanced across the rear quarter panel. The good news is that the snow lessened the damage from my front bumper to her rear fender (the damage is clearly shown in the closeup photo, it only effects the fender, no damage was caused to the door or bumper). The bad news is that this happened in my own driveway, was obviously my 'fault' since her car was parked with no on inside, and, not wanting to open the whole can of worms with insurance and her car being here in NY, etc, I decided I would just pay to have it fixed. I can have this fixed for $750, by a very reputable, professional, legitimate body shop, and the reserve price has been adjusted down $750 to reflect this fact. If the reserve price is met, the buyer has 2 options. Take it like it is, and either fix it or leave it as is and just drive it. Or, we will ADD $750 to the winning bid, the buyer will give me a non-refundable $750 deposit to hold the car, and I will have it fixed, which should take less than a week. You can then pay me the winning bid, and take the car. I do not want to lay out the money in advance, since it is not my car and I am making nothing off of this transaction, plus, the buyer may be happy to live with a very small dent and get a SUPER low mileage Accord at a total BARGAIN!The niece graduated from community college and is now pursuing her bachelors degree in NYC, and is living there and using the subway. So the car is in my driveway, I use it one or 2 days a week, but the niece needs money for tuition and bills, so here it is on ebay.PLEASE do NOT waste my time with sight-unseen low ball 'offers', I will ignore them. PLEASE no bids if you have less than 10 feedbacks, UNLESS you contact me first, I will cancel them. If you are interested, contact me, make arrangements to come see and drive the car, and make an offer. I am willing to bring it to an independent mechanic within 10 miles of my house, at YOUR expense (and MY convenience), provided this is arranged BEFORE the auction ends. The reserve is set very low for a car with such low mileage, but is not a give-away either. My niece needs the money, but is NOT desperate, and this is NOT a fire sale. I have seen comparable 2004 accords with well over 100K (a more normal amount of miles for a 2004) sell on ebay for far more than our reserve price. Clean CA Title in hand.
