Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Hi everyone! Up for sale today is a very hard to find 1989 Honda Prelude 2.0S! I just purchased this car locally (on a whim) and decided that since we already have 2 other cars, I’d list it on here to see if it would sell. I’m a HUGE fan of older Honda's and have owned 3 90-92 Accords in the past few years. I tend to buy and sell cars pretty frequently since I love trying new ones out and can’t seem to ever pass up on a good deal when I find one! After taking this Prelude for a test drive, I immediately fell in love with it! The handling is great and it’s even more fun to drive than my V6 Eclipse! The style is definitely one of the best ones that Honda has ever come up with. Also, the pop up headlights are so cool, and they open and close perfectly too! This is a carbureted model so you have to give it a bit of gas when starting it. With that said, the car starts just fine and it runs great! The body and original paint are in amazing shape for an almost 23 year old car. There is a rust spot on the rear driver's side fender, and a bit of light surface rust on the corners of the rocker panels but that’s about it. The underside of the car looks solid and it has a newer OEM style muffler as well. This car was originally from Virginia and, as far as I know, has never been driven in heavy snow. As you can see in the photos, the paint looks very good for being 22+ years old but it does have surface scratches and multiple chips on the hood. A good buffing and a bit of touch-up paint would do wonders though. The engine is very clean and looks as though it was well maintained. The previous owner moved the battery to the trunk and installed an aftermarket air intake which definitely improves the gas mileage and horsepower! All lights seem to work as do most other options. There is a nice aftermarket Pioneer stereo installed and it works great (the faceplate is pretty beat-up though). The windows and locks are all manual but the car does have cruise control and a power sunroof which opens and closes perfectly. The glass on the sunroof is cracked but it doesn’t leak and doesn’t affect anything other than appearance (and it’s only visible from the inside). The interior is in great shape considering the age! I haven’t had a chance to vacuum or detail it yet but I will do that before it sells. The whole interior is a really nice medium brown which really compliments the exterior color very well. Now I’ll talk about the work that the car needs. Really the only major negative is that the suspension is pretty bad. The previous owner installed some aftermarket shocks/ springs on the front but they don’t seem like they work very well. There are new matching springs for the back, but I’d suggest just buying some OEM-style parts and replacing everything. I actually priced the parts on eBay and you could get a complete set of stock Honda shocks/springs for $150 so that’s not bad at all! The car currently has the stock 13” steel wheels but I have a set of 14” steel wheels and really nice Honda hubcaps from my Accord that I will be including as well. Two of the 14” tires have great tread and two don’t have too much but would be fine for the back. All of the 13” tires are very worn and probably not worth keeping (though they are perfectly drivable on dry roads). I have the original Honda key, and a clear title that’s ready to be signed over to the new owner. This Prelude only has 148,000 miles on it and would be a super reliable, super fun car for years to come with just a bit of work! I’m listing it at a very reasonable Buy It Now price of $1,500! If you’re interested please contact me ahead of time so we can work out some of the details. Also, if you have any questions about this car, feel free to send me a note! Thanks for checking out my listing and Good Luck! ~Justin
