Vehicle Detail
Here we go Triumph collectors. The 1970 Trident is one of the rarest of the Meridian bikes with @285 bikes produced and this is a numbers matching example. There have been a ton of ’69 bikes that were sold and titled in 1970 and listed on eBay as a 1970. I have only seen one other verified 1970 Trident listed on eBay in the last 10 years. The bike runs and rides great. I found the bike in South Dakota. I sent the bike to a well-known Iowa dealer to give it their loving touch. The front forks are NOS. The gauges are new. The wiring harness is new and it has a Boyer. The seat is new. The tires are new. The paint is new and is a dead-on match with a nice gold pinstripe. Everything is correct except the horns. The shop’s crew gave the motor/trans the once over and spent some time getting the carbs set for this altitude. The shop owner mentioned that the bike likely has the 900cc conversion kit. He looked in the cylinders and verified the flat-topped pistons. His test ride is what made him wonder. The only way to know for sure is to pull the head which I have never done. This may make the bike more or less collectible to you. It was disclosed to me and so in that spirit, I pass it along to you. They liked the bike so well that it was featured in the 2006 Triumph calendar. Please understand that this unit is not like the featured January bike, it is the January bike. A 2006 Triumph calendar will go with the bike. The bike was restored to be a nice example of a rider and it serves that purpose well. The covers were polished but not to a show shine. The chrome is good but not perfect. It drips a little oil. The frame paint has a few nicks, etc. Over the years I have collected an original owner’s manual, shop manual, parts manual, and dealer brochure. I have also found period magazines and other items that would enrich your ownership experience. These will be made available to the winning bidder for an extra charge. If the buyer doesn’t want them, I will list then separately. Any bidder with less than 5 transactions or any bidder with negative feedback must contact me before bidding. The buyer must contact me within 48 hours of the auctions end or the bike will be relisted. I will require a $500 deposit via Pay-Pal within 72 hours and the balance with certified funds. The bike will not ship until your funds are verified. The buyer is responsible for shipping. I will help if I can however I won’t take a day off to wait for your shipper. If you want to use Forward Aire, I can deliver the bike for you for $250 and that includes a lock and 2 tie-downs for use with their crate. The vehicle is sold as is. I wish I could keep it but this economy has forced me to pare down my collection. I will be listing a few of my other gems in the weeks to come.
