Hi Guys,This one will be my loss and your gain. I spent 3 years looking for a rust-free example of a 1963 Ford Fairlane for my wife.... it was her first car in high school. Having found the car and transported it here to Wyoming we have decided not to go ahead with the mild resto, due to our changing circumstances. Prior to our purchasing, this car was one owner, having been owned by the mother, then passed on to the daughter, then on to the daughter's son. The son is who did the modifications you see on the car. The car has been stored indoors its entire life. Originally Rangoon Red with a white interior. Sometime around the late 80's or early 90's it was painted in the blue that you see. Whomever painted it actually striped the whole car down to do it as it is blue under the mouldings, carpet, etc. Where the 262 V8 used to reside now sits a 289 with Ford electronic ignition. The last time we listed the car we mentioned that we thought it needed a top end rebuild on the engine. After having driven for about 10 miles it seems the slight smoking that it had has disappeared - so I imagine it may have just been the rings setting again, and getting whatever junk was in the cylinders burned out. It does run good and sounds good. We have put a brand new battery in the car. The car hadn't been driven in 10 years prior to this little excursion around our home. We just spent $1200 having the C4 automatic completely rebuilt, including a new torque converter. We also put new shocks on the rear at the same time. The tranny rebuild was done 15 miles ago. The great thing about this car is that the underside has surface rust only. The floors and trunk are extremely solid... this was my requirement when I purchased it. The previous owner put power bucket seats (not in good shape cosmetically) out of a 1964 T-Bird in it, and yes, the power feature does work. The door panels need replaced as well as other odds and ends (visors, etc.). Whoever did the bodywork to take out the minor dings of an almost 50 year old car did not do a great job (I was going to take the car down to bare metal, media blast it, and go from there). There are some minor rust bubbles shown in the pics, but nothing serious. The right rear quarter looks like it's had the most work done to it, but there is no indication on the back side of the fender of any damage, so it has to be minor surface damage. A valuable feature of the car is that all of the chrome and stainless is present and in great condition - the sharks teeth in the grille are even straight with not even a single dent! The dashboard is all original and even has the original radio! If you are looking for an easy resto project to build either a pro-street, cruiser, or turn it back to factory original, this is the one for you - you won't be disappointed. EXTRAS:Also included with the car is an FMX big block automatic transmission - the pump is new but would need new bands to be reliable.The wheels on the car appear to be Ford originals - the only car I can think of that they would have come on is the California Mustang???
