Each vehicle is thoroughly road tested before being listed so that I can give the most accurate description of how this vehicle runs and drives in daily life. I encourage any potential bidder to come see and drive a vehicle in person before placing a bid. Vehicles are shown by appointment at my York, PA storage facility. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is a 1996 Honda Accord EX coupe. The Honda Accord needs no introduction. Its reputation for quality preceeds it. This is a higher mileage example of a great car. I would rate the body of this Accord to be in BELOW AVERAGE condition. A buyer should expect to find wear in excess of what would be considered normal for a vehicle of this age. The paint on the roof is spotty and faded as most tan Hondas get. There are some dents and scrapes here and there from normal use. There is some body damage to the hood that looks to have been mostly repaired but not finished. One great thing about this Honda is that there is not substantial rust around the fenders that pleague most older Honda products. This Accord is the EX model which gives it a power sunroof in addition to some preferred interior options. Additionally, this Accord is equipped with optional alloy wheels. The tires look good all around and have plenty of tread left. All of the glass and lenses appear to be in tact. I would rate the interior condition of this Honda to be in ABOVE AVERAGE condition. The door panels are clean and in tact. The headliner is clean. The carpets are clean and show well for the age of the vehicle. Also, the seats are in way better condition than I expected to find in a car with nearly 200k miles. The seats are clean, comfortable and show well throughout the car. The climate control system is working properly. The air conditioner still blows ice cold air. The trunk has plenty of room and the rear seats fold down for even greater storage capacity. The stereo is the original Honda unit which still sounds good. The volume knob is missing but can still be turned and operates properly. The original owners manual is included, too. The EX model comes with the nicer cloth seats as well as a power sunroof, power windows, locks, mirrors and seat. The right window does not go down more than an inch...but will go back up. I'm not sure what the issue is but the motor definitely works. All the other power features are working properly. Mechanically, this Accord has done pretty well over the years. The 2.2L VTEC engine starts right up and runs smoothly. I noticed no leaks or smoke from this vehicle. This Honda shows good road manners for the miles. It drives strait down the highway with no pulling or noticable vibrations. There is significant vibration when you apply the brakes. It's safe to say that you'll have to do front brakes on this car. Otherwise, it drives pretty well. The clutch does not slip or chatter. Gear changes are smooth through the manual transmission. You get a little vibration in the exhaust at certain engine speeds. The suspension feels good for the age of the car. The front end feels a little loose but, again, not bad for the age. For a buyer with realistic expectations of a 15 y/o car with almost 200k miles, this is a great buy. Please don't expect a new car...or anything close to new.
