The vehicles I sell are fresh trades from larger dealerships and are sold "as-is/as-traded"...which means they have not been serviced or reconditioned. Each vehicle is thoroughly road tested before being listed on eBay. This description is an account of how this vehicle performed in a real life road test. I recommend that any potential buyer come see and drive a vehice before placing a bid. Vehicles are shown by appointment only at my York, PA warehouse. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Please take the time to read this entire description, including reviewing all photos as well as my terms & conditions, before bidding. Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is a 1998 Volvo S70 sedan. Being an evolution of the 850, the 70 series Volvos are known for their simplicity, safety and reliability. I would rate the exterior condition of this S70 to be in AVERAGE condition for its age and miles. This is a good looking car, but a buyer should expect a normal amount of scratches and wear associated with a car of this age and miles. There is a small dent right behind the rear passenger door which is hard to see in the photos. There are some scratches and scrapes here and there but nothing horrible. Again, this is a good looking car that should clean up very well. All of the glass and lenses appear to be in tact. One of the wheel covers is missing. I will try to find a replacement, but no promises :) The tires look to be in good condition all around. This appears to be a good, solid sedan that has aged very well compared to most. I would rate the interior of this Volvo to be in ABOVE AVERAGE condition. Two things make this car unique...the first is the cloth interior. Volvo's are hard to find with cloth...and Volvo is about the only car I'd rather have with cloth over leather. Volvo leather isn't very well constructed and often gets brittle and cracks with age...not to mention you slide around in it. The Volvo cloth, on the other hand, is very well constructed so it is very durable as you can see. What's more, it actually grips you very well. This car has the winter package which gives you headlight washers, heated mirrors and heated front seats. The climate control system appears to be working normally. The air conditioner will need charged or serviced as it does not blow cold. This S70 offers separate passenger and driver temperature controls.The power windows, locks and mirrors work. The door panels are clean and in tact. The carpet shows well for the age of the vehicle. The seats are in great shape, showing almost no wear. The headliner is clean and tight. This Volvo has the AM/FM cassette with CD player. The unit is requesting the radio code which can be had by visiting your local Volvo dealer once you get your registration to prove the car isn't stolen. They will gladly give the code. If I have time, I will try to get it from my local dealer here in York. A full set of owners manuals is included with this car, too. Mechanically, this Volvo appears to be in good running condition. The 2.4L engine starts easily and runs smoothly. Oil leaks are common with older Volvo engines, but I didn't notice any leaks from this one. Per the service sticker, the timing belt was done at 192k miles so you won't have to worry about that for another 50k. During my road test, this Volvo exhibited excellent road manners. The engine kept a proper temperature. The steering is tight and responsive as it should be. The suspension is tight, too. The brakes stop the car well and without any issues. There is an ABS/Tracs light on which is common. A customer once told me how to fix it (it was super easy) but I forget. It's some little box under the hood. He said he keeps a spare one in his garage. The other thing that makes this Volvo unique is the manual transmission which is hard to find. The clutch grabs easily and does not slip or chatter. Gear changes are nice and smooth with no grinds. Out on the highway, she drives pretty good for an older vehicle. Here is a nice, older Volvo that appears to have been properly serviced and ready for the next 100k miles.
