This car was recently purchased from the original owner’s family who told me the mileage on the odometer was original at just over 70K. They also told me the garage I removed it from was the one it has been in since new. This car has 0 rust! There was some spare parts in another room including what looks to be the original 5(with spare) Goodyear Polyglass G70/14 tires! Four of them have good tread with one of those being virtually brand new (probably the spare). One has some wear toward the inside edge. These tires are nice and not cracked, the back room they were stored in had no windows which I believe helped preserve them from sunlight. This car still has all five Magnum 500 wheels also. The spare still has the rare plastic center insert that protects it from damage from the hold down!(see trunk pic) The Torino was bought new with the Q code 351 Cobra Jet engine. The original owner installed a mildly built 429 in its place. This 429 has full roller rockers, and a mild cam. Having built several of these I would speculate it has forged flat top pistons. It has the mild sound of the old forgings I have heard over the years when first warming. Anybody with a 429 SCJ or a stock Boss 302 knows what I am talking about. Also this one requires premium fuel. The engine is topped with an Edelbrock Torquer 2 intake and a 750 Holley. The original Q code air cleaner sits on top and looks almost NOS. The original sticker with the D3 part # is still legible and the plating on the vacuum actuated air door on the side looks new, still works also! Look closely at the engine compartment detail shots. The hood hinges still look like new, the bolts in the engine compartment still have nice cad plating! The engine is backed by a C6 that obviously has a shift kit. It shifts nice and firm and holds the gears a little longer (higher rpm) than stock when asked. Really nice. The interior is near perfect with a little wear on the driver’s side of the seat and a small hole in the arm rest where the driver would rest his elbow. The rest is really nice. The car features the full gauge package which works well. The clock was replaced with an oil temp gauge that fits nicely. Check out the interior shots to see how well preserved this interior is. This only happens when the cars are garaged and not left in the sun. I was using this car as a daily driver for a couple of weeks and really enjoyed driving it. The intermittent wipers and the rear defogger come in handy. This thing drives like new, very quiet inside. The car was going to stay with me a bit longer but I do not have garage space and it had to spend nights outside. After being so well preserved I couldn’t stand it and brought it down to sell sooner than anticipated. This car was originally red, the owner painted it blue and did a really thorough color change (look at the trunk and engine compartment pics to see how far he went). The paint is older and has some chips and scratches but she still is good enough for a driver. The condition of the trim on this car really shocked me. It does show some wear but for its age it is amazing. This car also has trim on the rear lower valance I have never seen before. The trunk still holds the original jack and Magnum 500 spare. There was some carpet installed to protect the inside that has just been removed. If you like Torino’s like I do, this is the one to have.
