Bentley had used the name Continental on their model line, adding to the ambiance and prestige. In 1956 the Ford Motor Company formed the Continental Division for the production of the Mark II. Many people associated the Continental as a Lincoln because it featured the trademark Lincoln spare-tire hump in the trunk lid and it was sold and serviced at Lincoln dealerships. The Continental Division lasted until 1957 when it was merged with Lincoln and the Continental Mark II was added as Lincoln's flagship model. The name 'Continental' would stay with the Mark line until the introduction of the Mark VII in 1984. The last of the large Lincolns was the Mark V and the final series of the big boys. The Lincoln Mark VI was introduced in 1980 and stayed in production until 1983. It was smaller version of its predecessor with minor design revisions. This Mark V series was 77-79 only and if you like large cars these were the last of a great era. This 1977 Lincoln Continental 4dr is one of the smoothest and comfortable Luxury cars of Fords entire line up during the late 70’s. The seats are plush and inviting and often compared like sitting on your living room sofa. This is the original interior fitted in Leather. The wheel base of this ‘77 Lincoln is 127 inches with an overall length of 19feet 4 inches, wow!! The drive is simply majestic by all standards and unlike any car on the market today. Sheer excitement follows this car while driving and its response from onlookers is of amazement. Fully loaded with options the car includes Power windows, Power seats, Power Locks, Power Antenna, Power Brakes and Steering. Equipped with a 400 V8 with 2 barrlecarb, the car produces 179 hp and steadily propels itself down the road. Coupled to an automatic transmission with cruise control, the car drives smooth and effortlessly. The vehicle includes air conditioning which blows cold, and AM/FM radio with 8 track player for your cruising pleasure. We are including a box of various 8 track tapes with the purchase. The vehicle has undergone one repaint in the original color of Bright Yellow Gold Metallic with Gold interior. The body style is 53B and the car has a Williamsburg Edition tag on the glove box door although many of the Williamsburg cars were not this color it is quite possible the car was a special order vehicle with this one-off configuration.
