Most of the Candy Apple Red paint on this car is the original and still shines quite well. The panels overall are quite solid and line up well. The factory ‘Turn Signal’ hood wears its factory inserts and wiring all there & properly functioning. There is some minor rust on the passenger rear quarter just behind the tire and some very small pinhead sized bumps on the front of the driver’s quarter panel wheel well, that is about it. There are the typical bumps & bruises associated with original 43 year old sheet metal, but overall a very solid and honest car. The interior was just treated to a new carpet kit and professionally installed seat upholstery with new buns. The interior features rare & desirable options such as factory floor console, tilt-tilt-away steering column and fold down rear seat. The tilt-away functions but the lock-out to keep it from tilting away needs to be lubed as it will not lock into the driving position without pulling it down firmly. The previous owner was in the middle of adding factory air conditioning to the car. A good used factory Mustang A/C heater box was restored with a new evaporator, heater core and seals then installed. The firewall was trimmed out as factory for the install. The in-dash vents and heater control are currently installed but the vacuum hoses and hose ducting will still need to be installed. The 302 engine is not the original, but runs excellent and sounds great. The original exhaust was not save-able so new exhaust with 2-Chamber Mufflers was installed with New Stainless Steel Reproduction Tips. This car sounds like a true Muscle Car! The C4 Automatic goes into gear quickly and shifts properly. The Power Front Disc Brakes work excellent. The rear brakes were just serviced and new wheel cylinders installed. The Original Chrome GT Rims are still in good condition and are wrapped with BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s. This ’68 can be driven as-is for the ‘Survivor’ look or go for the full-on restoration.
