Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is a 2000 Ford Focus SE Sony Edition. As you can see, this is a sharp looking car. Its bright red finish shines great from any angle. I would rate the exterior of this Focus to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for the year and miles. The buyer of this car should expect to find normal wear on the exterior of this vehicle such as scratches, scrapes and some minor clear coat flaking on the rear spoiler. None of this wear is excessive or out of the ordinary for a car of similar age and miles. Additionally, the right fender is dented and the reflector lens is broken. I tried to get a close up photo but it's hard to see. All of the glass and lenses appear to be in tact except that reflector. This car has alloy wheels with good rubber all around. I would rate the interior of this Focus to be in AVERAGE condition for the year and miles. The door panels are in tact. The carpets show average wear for the age but will probably clean up well. There is no excessive wear on any of the seats. This Focus is equipped with power windows, locks and mirrors...all of which work except the right, rear window which is off the track and should be looked at. The stereo is missing the face plate (replacements can be found online. The climate control system is working but the fan only blows on high which means a new resistor is needed. This is a very cheap part that fails often and can be had right here on ebay. The a/c will need charged or serviced as it does not blow cold. The trunk is spacious and clean. Overall, this Focus is far from new but should be a great driver. A weekend of cleaning and handy work and you'd have a really nice car. Mechanically, this Focus appears to be in good condition. When it comes to buying these cars, I only buy the 2.0L DOHC engine for its power and reliability. I avoid the single cam engines. This one starts up and runs smoothly. I did not see any leaks or smoke coming from this vehicle. During my road test, this Focus behaved very well. The suspension and steering are tight and responsive. The brakes stop this car easily. Highway cruising is nice and easy with no vibrations or pulling. The engine keeps a normal temperature. There is a check engine light (code P0171B). The most likely cause is a vacuum line behind the intake that is known to collapse, but any vacuum leak would cause this code also.
