Vehicle Detail
This is a fine specimen of an all time classic British sports car - the Triumph TR3! I have a clear Ohio title that lists Serial Number TS281142 as a 1958 model TR3. The engine serial number is CT1774E. According to one site online that makes it a TR4 engine from 1961. As you can see in the pictures, the grill is a TR3 small mouth. This car may have been restored earlier in its life, which would explain its great condition. I got it from my dad, who bought it almost 20 years ago. It has always been garaged as long as we have owned it and probably before that too since there is little more than surface rust on the car. This vintage Triumph can be driven as is, everything works. The engine starts right up and runs strong, but it does burn oil and the lower end will need to be rebuilt. Carbs were rebuilt less than 500 miles ago and exhaust is nearly new. I converted this car to negative ground and added an electronic ignition. Again, as can be seen in the pictures there is virtually no rust to be concerned with on this car. The bottom is nearly all solid although the floorboards beneath the seats rusted at some point and were repaired. It has classic wire wheels in good shape - they have been painted and could use a good cleaning. Paint is good with the usual chips and dings, but no dents or major damage of any kind. Interior is in good condition - but could definitely use new carpet if you are going for show quailty. The top, rear window, and side curtains are in good shape, and they have never been in rain - in fact, they were rarely on the car while it was out of the garage. Tires have some dry rot and need to be replaced. Overall, this is a great specimen and it would take little to finish putting it in tip-top shape. As a restoration vehicle this is not a "project car" but a "finish it up" car - much of the work is already done! The odometer reads about 80,500, which may not be accurate. This is a 53 year old car and is being sold as is where is. Don't miss out! The car is also for sale locally and this auction could end at any time if sale occurs. Buyer must arrange pick up - but, I could get the car to the east side of Columbus, Ohio. $1000 non-refundable deposit via Paypal is due at the end of the auction. Full payment is due within 5 days. Happy bidding and good luck!
