Vehicle Detail
This is a very nice bike, check out the pictures. I took it in on trade, and it had been sitting a few years but parked inside a garage and covered. I tossed a new battery in it, it fires up but is starving for fuel in cylinders 1 & 3. I can tell you coming from 20 years of experience, I am 98% certain this is a fuel issue, NOT electrical or compression (full spark on all cylinders, and all cylinders have excellent compression). Also, no ticks, knocks, or smoke. To put it simply, your going to need to go through the carbs. But, even though its a 4 cylinder, these GS models are pretty easy to get the carbs in and out as the air box has sufficient room to unbolt and go back allowing for the carbs to come out (I've done a few of these over the years). It might even just be a bad petcock (they rely on vaccum assist and do sometimes wear out over the years). This is by no means a parts bike. It has a clear title, and is in beautiful shape for the age. Somewhere along the lines it was repainted, but looks great (NOT a spray bomb job). The only real "noticable" flaws are a repaired front signal housing (if you dont like it, they are cheap on ebay) and 2 seperations on the seat I am pointing to. Otherwise she is a beauty with excellent chrome, and a nice clean frame. Im clearing out alot of my bikes before winter (check my other auctions) hits and dont have the time to get them prepared. So all Ive done is give it a quick "spit shine" wash, toss in a battery, and give it the "yes this bike will be a runner" inspection ( I spent about 2 hours checking this bike over). In my opinion, best case scenario: petcock work or carb clean/rebuild. Worst case scenario: your buying some new carbs for $50-$150. Either way, in the spring you'll have a beautiful vintage bike, and most likely worth far more then the high bid will end up being as this is a no reserve auction. P.S. All lights, signals, switches, brakes, horn, etc work PERFECTLY. Rear tire has about 30% or more left, front has a good 50% or more. Buyer responsible for all pickup/shipping arrangements. Must be paid for within 5 business days, and picked up within 2 weeks or their will be a $10 per day storage fee applied after the 14th day. I recommend uship.com for a quote.
