Here we have another great NO RESERVE auction, from C&J Auto Sales, for this 1993 XJ6 Jaguar. Like all older Jaguars, this one needs a little work, but on the upside, it does run and drive. I will start out by saying that this is more of a hobbiest/ enthusiast car than a daily driver. These cars are not necessarily known for their reliability or being a steller daily commuter. If that is what you are after, I would strongly suggest a Honda Accord, or perhaps a Toyota Camry. That being said, I have personally enjoyed tinkering around with this car for the past month or so I have driven it, and have enjoyed the ride, style and comfort the entire time. I am also a car guy. If you are considering this vehicle, you should also be one or you probably will be disappointed. It still gets looks and it is rattle free inside. I have never previously owned a Jaguar, but I would definetely do one again. These are fun cars to play around with. I will now try to disclose everything I know or have experienced with the vehicle. : The windshield has a crack down the passenger side. I have been quoted $225 for a new one installed and can pass that deal on -if the new owner wishes. The clearcoat is flaking off the paint in several areas mostly along the roof, hood, and trunk lid. The "burlwood applique is flaking off in parts of the interior consoles. The radio only works on the rear speakers and momentarily you can sometimes hear the front ones trying. There was a check engine light on when I got it and it was a trouble code 14. This turned out to be a loose conection at the temperature sender unit at the thermostat. I wiggled it and got it to make contact and I was good to go for several weeks. The light has now since come back on. It will probably need to be tinkered with again. There is also the "Bulb" light that comes on every now and again. Occasionally, the third brake (high mount stoplight) doesn't work and the car loves to tell me that the bulbs are burned out. I know better. Probably the third brake light module located in the trunk. The gas cap lid doesn't want to lock closed. Last but certainly not least, the transmission "light" will come on and it will operate in open loop, limp home mode. This is it's most annoying quirk. I have done research on this issue and it turns out that it is a transmission "relay". It is said to be priced at less than $30. I have however, not been able to figure out where exactly that relay is located. (Probably one on the firewall along with several others). The wipers work, interior lights work, horn works, power windows work, sunroof works, power mirrors work, power locks work, heater works, engine sounds absolutely beautiful, transmission shifts great (when in closed loop mode without the light on). The A.C. needs charged. The tires are like brand new. The brakes feel good, no noises. The steering feels tight. The power seats seem to operate correctly. That is about all I can think of and I will be happy to answer any additional questions you may have. As you can imagine, with any used vehicle, it is nearly impossible to cover every last square inch in detail with this brief description. There are many different companies that specialize in doing nothing but that. They generally charge between $100-$175 and may truly be a bargain to give you piece of mind and any additional info you may need. The vehicle will be made available for inspection by appointment. If you decide to forego the inspection, there really is no reason you should be unhappy about anything after the auction has ended. Most of our vehicles are generally purchased at dealer only auctions for the sole purpose of resale. We sell these vehicles FAR below any dealer retail prices. This gives you room for any additional repairs that you see fit. They have not undergone ANY type of inspections/ or tests for ANYTHING. This includes emmissions and safety inspections. We cannot guarantee compliance of the vehicle for your state, because every state has different requirements as far as safety and emissions inspections are concerned. The transmission light has not come back on and it shifts correctly all the time. The check engine light is still on and now it's reading a code 39 (which has to do with the EGR valve). Question: 1993 Jaguar XJ-S 4.0 ltr 6 cyl fault code 39. not listed in owners manual. What is it and what could it mean? Answer; A fault code 39 indicates that there is a problem with the EGR temperature sensor circuit. The ECM monitors the temperature at the intake manifold EGR adapter to determine if exhaust gas is flowing when the EGR valve is commanded open. Check for a malfunctioning EGR valve, carbon deposits clogging the EGR passages, a faulty EGR temperature sensor, or an electrical problem affecting the EGR temperature sensor circuit. The EGR temperature sensor is screwed into the EGR adapter on the right side of the engine. It is part #LHE1610AA and sells for 129.75 at any jaguar dealer parts department.
