Vehicle Detail

Up For Sale is this Very Clean, Very Straight 1956 Ford F100 Pick-up. A little work will make this Effie a Great, Fun Driver. First, people want to know why I'm selling the truck. I was so impressed by the value of this truck when I first looked at it that I decided to buy it. But, the truth is, I really want a Stocker, either TO restore, or maybe already restored. I have one hotrod, and now I want a Stocker. THE GOOD: The exterior on this truck appears to be very straight. When I first looked at the truck, I took a magnet with me to check for rust and bondo. I ran the magnet over the areas where you typically find rust on these Effies: All four cab corners, areas adjacent to the roof drip rails, and the door bottoms. The magnet stuck well to all those areas and did not fall off, indicating no serious rust or excess bondo. High Performance 350 Chevy engine, with Late-style Aluminum Heads and Roller Rockers, mild cam, Weiand aluminum manifold, Holley carburetor, Corvette style Ramhorn exhaust manifolds, and an electric fuel pump. I don't have details as to when and where this engine was built. What I can tell is that it starts right up, runs very strong, with no smoke. Removing the valve covers reveals the very clean heads, nothing dirty, and the aluminum roller bearing rockers. The exterior of the engine appears to be rather freshly painted, with no signs that it was painted in the truck. The truck has a Turbo Hydro 400 Transmission with a B&M floor shifter, and stock rearend. Electric fan, G.M. steering column with Power Steering, and a Steering Dampener. The truck has a complete new tutone gray velour & vinyl interior, not only the seat, but door & kick panels, headliner and carpet. It also has a new 2 1/2" exhaust system with Dynaflow mufflers. It's a little loud for me personally, but it sounds like a lion! Chrome, or polished stainless steel (I can't tell the difference!) tailgate latches. All the glass is in good condition, and the door glass goes up & down like it should. THE NOT-SO GOOD: The major thing that the truck needs, in my opinion, is to be completely stripped/sanded to bare metal, and after proper prep, repainted. The truck was painted in it's curent white, and it looks to me like it wasn't sealed, and maybe not even primered. The paint has numerous cracks in the paint, and as you can tell in the shot of the right side, I picked some of the paint off of the right front fender, to find what I've described here. Next, if you're familiar with these trucks, and the hoods in particular, you know the hinges are more often than not, a problem. Two of the original nuts that were welded to the hood hinge flanges are missing, There are kits to replace these, but in my opinion, one of the BMW-style hood flip kits would solve the entire problem. The bed wood needs to be replaced, the radiator needs to be repaired, or re-cored. The choke plate & mechanism has been removed from the carb. The gas tank, which I have, needs to be inspected and reinstalled. The former owner apparently pulled the tank, perhaps during the upholstery work, and didn't go any further. The tank will hold air pressure, so I don't think there are any leaks. The truck needs inside door & window handles, and willl need new weatherstripping on the doors after paint completed. Prospective Bidders/Buyers are more than welcome to come and inspect the truck. Remember, the gas tank is out of the truck, and the radiator leaks. So, while we can start it up and run for a few minutes, we really can't take it out for a drive. There is a small gas container rigged up so there is gas for a brief listen. The truck can be driven enough to load it onto a trailer. If you would like to arrange a visit, or just ask me some questions, please call Randy Taylor @ (928) 533-4481 (That's in Prescott, AZ, about 1/2 way between Phoenix and Flagstaff). The truck is being sold AS-IS, Where-Is, with NO warranty expressed or implied. Buyer is responsible for pick-up and transport of the truck. I will of course, assist in loading the truck onto Buyer's trailer.
