Relisted due to Buyer failing to to have finances lined up. Please do not bid if you do not have your financing in place! Extremely rare Porsche 968 Cabriolet. 27 Miles Per Gallon! A former show car. She has only 52,xxx miles on her! ABS, dual airbags, ice cold AC, PW, PL, 0-60 in 5.9",160 mph, 27 mpg, Alarm, 60k service performed at 40,000 miles. I routinely get 25-27 mpg on freeway and nearly 18-20 mpg around town. This 968 is truly unique. She features a truly rare and stunningly beautiful color combination. This is the original color combination specially ordered from Porsche. The exterior is amethyst, a vibrant metallic merlot-like color. The Power TOP is nearly new and matches the paint color. The interior features NEW LEATHER and color matched carpet. To make this car really nice, the leather was upgraded and redone. Unlike the standard 968, which has vinyl on its door panels, these door panels have been finished in the same quality leather as the seats giving this Porsche a much higher level of quality and a superior finish. Whereas a normal 968 uses vinyl for its door panels, windshield surrounds, etc., these surfaces have all been redone in a nice soft leather, thus eliminating the plastic feel of the ordinary 968. This 968 has the very rare Porsche 993 headlamp upgrade which gives this 968 a truly sleek and modern look. In addition, the 993 lamps have been upgraded to HID lamps which have a modern white/blue beam. This 968 features Red Brembo brake calipers. New Bilstien performance shocks and struts were installed. A stainless steel Borla exhaust system has been installed. The stereo system has been upgraded. Gorgeous 19” wheels have been fitted along with Giorgaro Verdestien tires. A New clutch and flywheel has been installed. A modern Push Button Starter switch has been installed in the dash so you can simply push button start the car like the new Ferraris. New Bosch Battery Porsche 968 Club Sport front Spoiler An amethyst colored boot (the cover for the top when it’s down) completes the look. Central locking, alarm, AC, power windows, ABS, dual airbags, power top, power trunk. Violet high performance spark plug wires fitted The engine was detailed for show purposes as well. -The top of the manifold was polished -The Porsche engraving was painted to match the exterior Amethyst paint. -Matching high performance spark plug wires complete the stunning appearance. -A special matching cover for the top was also made. For show purposes, Lamborghini-style scissor doors have been made to work here. These doors open normally (just not quite as far) but can also swing up like the Mercedes SLR or Lamborghini. This is a very nice car, particularly when you consider her age. She must be one of the lowest mileage Porsche 968 Cabs around Only 2,248 Porsche 968 Cabriolets were produced for North America from 1992 to 1995. In total, worldwide 968 Cabriolet production was just 4,599. By comparison, Porsche makes about that many Boxsters in a week and a half! Ferrari made 16,000 360 Ferraris! There are almost four times as many Ferrari 360 as there are Porsche 968 Cabriolets! The 968 has been called the best handling car in the world. Magazine road tests comparing the 911, 968, front engine rear drive cars like the corvette and mid-engined cars like the Ferrari and Lotus have all found the 968, with its engine in the front and transmission in the rear (50%/50% front /rear weight distribution) to be the best handling car. The race driver, Derek Bell commented that this car was the smoothest at high speed stating you would let your wife drive it at 140 mph. (Top speed is 162 mph.) Some history and info regarding the 968. Why is the 968 the rarest modern Porsche production car and destined to be a collectible classic? Back in the early to mid 1990s, Porsche was on the brink of bankruptcy. In fact, there was talk that Porsche would withdraw altogether from the US market (Like Alfa Romeo, Maserati, etc.) When new management came in, they decided the only way to save the company was to focus on producing only one car, the 911. So, with one fell swoop, the 928S4 and 968 were killed. In total, only 2248 Porsche 968 Cabriolets were imported to America from 1992 to 1995. This despite the fact that Porsche had just spent tens of millions of dollars developing the 968. According to Porsche, 80% of the parts on a 968 were new and not shared with the 944 which it replaced. Porsche spent 30 months designing and developing the 968. When it was introduced, the 968 was Porsche most advanced model. (Compare a ’92 C2 to a 968 and you’ll see how dated the old 911 looked.) During that research, 20 new Porsche patents arose. The 968 was the first Porsche to feature VarioCam, Porsche’s system of variable cam timing now found on its present cars. The 968 was also the first production Porsche with a six speed. The 968 produced more torque than any other production normally aspirated engine (230lbs). This HEMI (hemispherical combustion chamber) engine has forged connecting rods, forged pistons (only 700 grams), four valves heads, and 11 to 1 compression. Despite its power, the 968 got better mileage than any other Porsche and was the cleanest running engine. The 968 was also the first Porsche with headlights with a reflector system with variable focal point. This results in a higher light output. Another neat feature is that, when you flash your high beams, the headlights don’t need to come up as the beam is specially focused flashing. The 968 is so rare people in Beverly Hills think this car is Porsche’s “latest model” and literally stop and stare at the car. The 968 cabriolet is the rarest production Porsche; it gets great fuel mileage, handles better than most anything out there, has dual airbags, and is truly unique. A once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire a stunning Por
