Vehicle Detail

This van is originally from southern California, and I am the second owner. I looks great and works like a charm. Very much original, with installed real hard wood floor on the "living" area for stylish cooking. I bought it in February 2010 and soon after the engine started failing. So I took it to Europro (the best guy specialized in VW Vanagons in Southern Cal) and the engine had to be replaced. So I did, a $5,600 dollar job! This is a 1.9L longblock rebuilt engine (by the best guy you could ask about) and has a 12 month warranty, which is no longer in place, but the life expectancy is a lot higher. Also when I replaced the engine, I replaced a lot of other parts as recommended by my Mechanic, which include but were not limited to: clutch disc, clutch press plate, clutch to bearing, gasket-valve cover, radiator coolant, oil filter, coolant hose/waterbox, manifold boot, hose clamp, throttle body seal, injector seal (2), gasket-exhaust/head, hardware kit, crankcase breather retro kit, 14mm hose pvc/oem, coolant recovery tank, coolant level sensor, bosh cap, bosh rotor, bosh spark-plug, bosh fuel filter, air filter, plug wires, hose clamp fuel injection; besides refill and bleed coolant system. All of these parts are new and many only obtainable if original from the factory in Germany, so everything is top notch quality stuff. He checked the brakes and they are in good condition; and he checked the transmission, which is also in good condition. It was worth it, IMHO. The car is great now. I installed a Viper alarm that allows for electric door locks and there's a modern Sony CD sound system that accepts ipod/iphone connection for you music selection! It's ready to go! Original Westy features: Refrigerator, sink, stove, closet w/ mirror, awning. Both front seats (captain chairs) swivel as well as two interior tables. Rear seat (couch) folds into bed (sleeps two). Pop-top sleeps additional two upstairs. Original manuals/service book in hand. Blue Plates are original, keys are original, even ice cube tray in refrigerator is original. The interior is super clean and in excellent condition. Original front carpets show very nicely, barely seeing small imperfections. I purchase new Heavy-Duty rubber mats for front, passenger, middle area and back from Westy.com as soon as I purchase the vehicle. Absolute NO area of rust. Water cooled, 4 speed manual transmission. Rebuilt engine w/ new head has approx less than 10,000 miles on it, and it came with a 12,000 Mile or 1 year Re-manufactured Engine Warranty. Total 114,665 on car. Canvas pop top original in perfect condition and seals nicely with no leaks. Car has been used very carefully by first owner or by me. New water pump with approx 2,000 miles on it. Tires are in good shape - replaced 5K miles ago, as well as brakes. The only thing my Mechanic recommended that I didn't do was to replace the exhaust system which is a little bit-up, with several places where welding has been done, but there isn't any holes on it and everything is working fine. Just be aware that if you acquire the car and want to do some improvements, this is something to keep in mind. But I envision this car running for a long time without really needing any major work done to it, as everything is really working well. Oil change and filter done last week. Heater works great. The curtains are all originals. Stove, fridge, and sink are in excellent condition, however I have never used the propane so I can’t confirm that these features work correctly. Body is straight - exterior paint in 2002. Doesn’t leak fluids – have never needed to add oil between services. Had passed smog with no problem recently. All services done by me have receipt. What I know: Exterior has small scratch in paint (someone keyed me), otherwise almost perfect. Windshield has a long crack. Passenger window handle is cracked (but works perfectly fine). A fantastic buy for any VW Bus fan! Car is beautiful. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Anyone requesting a vehicle inspection will need to have it performed within the first three days of the auction at their time and expense. The technician must be mobile. Lastly, this is a used vehicle, implied "Sold As Is, Where Is". Good luck and happy bidding.
