Vehicle Detail

1965 Pontiac Tempest Stock 48k Original Miles Classic Hot Rod GTO Clone Up for auction is a 1965 Pontiac Tempest two-door sedan that was manufactured in Pontiac, Michigan. This was purchased at the estate auction of the original owner who passed away. I received the original 1965 title when I purchased the car. It was last plated in 1996 and sat in a barn ever since.  This car is going to be a great project for the right person. I will do my best to describe the good, the bad, and the ugly. Please look at all the pictures closely and watch the videos provided that shows a complete walk around. I want to be completely honest and upfront so you know exactly what you would be buying. Description: This car has the original Pontiac 215 inline6 cylinder. I was told the transmission is a 2 speed Powerglide automatic transmission, backed up by the D and L on the column shifter. The car has 48,235 original miles. It runs, but has a blown headgasket and smokes badly after about 10 seconds of running. It does move in both drive and reverse. Had been sitting and will need rebuilt. The gas tank has old gas in it from when it was originally parked. I would recommend it either be cleaned or replaced. I disconnected fuel line at pump and put in place temporary gas tank to start motor and move car. However, the car is currently without working brakes. I put fluid in the master cylinder pushed the pedal and it went right to the floor. No fluid is leaking out along lines or wheel cylinders, so therefore a change of the master cylinder should fix it. For a proper restore, an upgrade to a brake booster would help as well so this would need upgraded anyways. Body lines are straight, has never been in an accident. Original owner did body work, which is really quite minor (see pictures). Driver’s side patches in front of drivers door, and around rear wheel well. Passenger side patches on front of rear wheel well and front of passenger door. All exterior chrome appears to be present. Underside of hood still has sound detuning material and truck has original jack stickers. Original paint color can be seen on underside of trunk lid. Car is currently painted blue, but unfortunately was done with a brush. Not bad looking from a distance, but will definitely need a good sanding. Both bumpers have rust, particularly the rear bumper (see pictures). However, frame appears solid. The interior is 100% original and has all the features available back in the day. The interior lights work when you open the door, all dash lights work when lights activated, and the heater blower motor works. Seat will need to be reupholstered or covered. The door panels and rest of the interior is all there, will need to be refinished for complete restore or left as is for effect. Rear deck lid cover is rotted and will need to be replaced. The radio turns on, but only get static, not a surprise with original speakers. Headliner is mostly solid with a few small holes towards the front. Passenger window works properly, the driver’s window needs hand assistance to open, and both back windows are stuck up. Both front and rear windows are crack free, but windshield seal needs replaced. Original owner used sealant to try and fix leaks (see pictures). Turn signals, tail lights, and marker lights all work. Driver’s side headlights work (Both low and high beam). Not sure why passenger side isn’t working, may just be the bulbs. The windshield wipers will need to be replaced, never tried to see if they work. This car is going to be a project, but when you’re finished it will be worth it! Great start to make into a GTO clone, hot rod, rat rod, or cruiser. As a bonus, the original owner’s manual was found in glove box – mint condition and will go with the car. Car has a clear Ohio title. This item is being sold AS IS. Please feel free to ask any questions and I will answer them as best I can. The winning bidder will be responsible for local pick-up or making any and all shipping arrangements and paying charges. This car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end eBay auction if sold. Bid early, bid often, and have fun bidding!!! Please Watch Video of Complete Walk Around!!!
