I have for sale a 1979 Toyota Landcruiser FJ45 pick up (“UTE”). VIN FJ45225192. This is a No Reserve Auction! This is an authentic right hand drive pickup truck from Australia with a clear North Carolina title. It has factory drum brakes front and rear, full floating rear axle, 2F engine, 4 speed transmission with Fairey Overdrive. The heavy duty factory springs on this makes it an extremely heavy duty truck unlike the USA FJ’s. She is a beast and will handle just about anything. For those who know little about Fairey Overdrives: When the overdrive is fitted to the standard Toyota 4 speed gearbox the Toyota rear housing is replaced with the Fairey rear housing. The overdrive gearbox gives you an overdrive option in all gears. Effectively the overdrive unit gives you 8 forward gears and 2 reverse gears. The standard australian 4 speed tranny will top out about 65 mph. The overdrive will get you 75-80 mph. This is a nice option for getting down the road at highway speeds but still having the ability to utilize the australian factory gear ratio’s when going off road. This landcruiser was completely restored by the previous owner in Australia about 10-11 years ago and was fully disassembled painted and put back together. It is a head turner whenever I am out with it. Everything mechanically was gone over and everything works excellent. There is an aluminum flatbed on the back (6’wX 6’ 10” long ) with sides and a tailgate that folds down on the pickup with a tie down bar on the sides that is very common in Australia. The frame and body are very clean and solid. The 2 pac paint is 10 years old and is showing some blemishes. The worst is the on the front lower bib by the hinge. The paint has bubbled but is not rusted through. The floor boards are rock solid with the exception of a small hole in passenger side floorboard that was repaired/welded from the topside (see pics). The doors are in excellent condition. The photos of the lower inside doors may appear rusty but that is only the yellow weather-stripping glue from the new door weather-stripping. All electrics work as well as all the gauges. It has a sony am/fm cassette stereo with speakers mounted in the door panels. There are a lot of stainless fasteners utilized on the outer body. This truck does not have power steering and does not have AC. The 2F engine runs excellent and you will note in the photos being from Australia that this does not have all the EPA emissions and smog stuff that you would see on the later USA FJ40 models. It does not blow smoke or burn oil. It is a very simple and easy to maintain engine. I have done the following: New Sears Diehard Battery, New fuel filter, New Specter seat upholstery, along with basic oil and air filters etc. The tires are 31x10.5x15 and are in excellent condition. I have some odds and ends to go with this including a canvas canopy and frame for the bed (see pics). I have included some pictures with a 4 wheeler ATV loaded on the tray to give you an idea of what could be carried. In my opinion this is an awesome, dependable, great looking vehicle that could be used as a daily driver, driven on nice days or redo the older restoration. It is not a trailer queen or spotless show car at this time but with a solid body and frame would not take much to take it there. The auction may end early as it is advertised elsewhere. I have a car trailer and can work with the buyer in delivering the landcruiser or getting it to a transporter. I travel the east coast and midwest a fair amount so delivery is an option but would need to check with me and my schedule before bidding.
