The description you are reading is my honest opinion of this vehicle based on my experience behind the wheel of this car and my observations about it. While I strive for complete accuracy in my descriptions, you are bidding on a used vehicle with miles in excess of 100k. I cannot guarantee anything. I am not a mechanic. I do not have the training or equippment to offer a professional mechanical inspection of any vehicle. Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is a 1998 Toyota Avalon XLS. I would rate the exterior condition of this Avalon to be in AVERAGE condition for the age and miles. There are some rock chips on the hood that show some surfact rust where the paint was damaged. There are numerous scratches and dings as you would expect to find on any 13 year old vehicle. Overall, this is not a bad looking car. The paint shines well from any angle. The finish on the wheels is not the best looking. The tires have good tread all around. All of the class and lenses appear to be in tact. This appears to be a good Avalon in AVERAGE USED condition. I would rate the interior of this Avalon to be in ABOVE AVERAGE condition. The door panels are clean and in tact. The carpets show well for the age of the car, as does the headliner. The leather seats are in great condition throughout and show no abnormal signs of wear. There is a small plastic panel missing under the dash. There are a few preset buttons missing from the radio. The little piece to the door hinge (drivers door) that holds the door open is present but missing the little bolts. The stereo system is factory original and sounds great. The climate control is fully automatic and is working perfectly. The air conditioner blows ice cold. The power windows, locks, seats, mirrors and sunroof all work as they should. The trunk is clean and spacious. This car is very comfortable to drive in. Mechanically, this Avalon appears to be in decent condition. The 3.0L engine starts up and runs smoothly. The engine keeps proper temperature and there are no warning lights on. The front valve cover gasket is seeping a small amount of oil (normal for this engine). The steering and brakes feel great. The suspension will need new shocks or bushings all around. The transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly. Out on the highway, this car cruises easily. There are no signs of vibration or pulling. The Toyota Avalon has a great reputation for longevity, luxury and value. It is one of the few full size luxury sedans that get good fuel economy. It has a new PA inspection.
