Vehicle Detail

This 1966, vintage, red P1800 S was, until the last years, driven around the New England region for occasional trips. The car was purchased in the Pacific Northwest in 1999 by a past son-in-law, then shortly towed cross country to Massachusetts. Now sitting in a garage over the last nine years, it has become a reclaim and restore case, inside and out. The interior shows the wear from its years. The engine and running gear were in good shape when operating. Now that the car has been garaged these years, all will require attention. The odometer reads 17,058; it may have turned once. The photo gallery below, from a few years ago, shows the car in the garage. Click any photo for a larger, higher-res version. (No, the nice T-Bird in the accompanying bay is no longer there ...) http://shawn.concord-net-now.org/Shawns_P1800/Shawns_P1800.html Now the car is dustier; the two front tires no longer hold air. Otherwise, the photos convey the car. As said, the car is to reclaim and restore. The car will require being trucked to its new location; those transportation arrangements and expenses are the responsibility of a buyer. This car is also for sale locally and we reserve the right to cancel this auction should it sell prior to the end of auction. IN RESPONSE TO REQUESTS: (added Sep 26)There are now up an additional 25 photos. In a different folder, just click below. Now presented as a lightshow, a few details following. http://shawn.concord-net-now.org/Shawns_P1800-detail_Sep_2011/detail_sep_2011.html (When you hover a thumbnail, a better thumbnail pops. But CLICK any image, and the lightshow appears with 800 X 600 quality. When in the lightshow, you have controls for a table of contents, a help screen, as well as stop and go for the slideshow.) To notice:The car's floorboards have been uncovered, so that their condition is visible. Carpets are for the moment on the the 'plus two' seats behind the front seats. There is a shop manual and a Weber carburetor manual – though both in Swedish!Four specific rust spots are pictured, please note - the four are in separate photos. The undercarriage photos are inverted, to get the photo in the first place. (If I have the moment, I will re-invert them right-side-up. But they are clear enough to show condition.) ALSO (from a conversation with the owner):Perhaps of particular interest -> All the chrome on the car is in good shape. Apparently this is a feature. A bumper may have to be re-dipped, but the rest is excellent. The 'fifth gear' overdrive – a switch on the steering column – was working, when last driven. The car came with dual carbs. Those, as the photos show, have been converted to single carb. Can be converted back. The front bumper is from the first year the car was manufactured, 1962, the 'bullhorn' bumper. The car originated, way back, in Pennsylvania.
